Have you checked the thin pipe that runs round the back of the engine from the turbo to the fuel pump? If they split or melt there will be no pressure to the fuel pump so no boost fueling. I have found this fault on both my Disco,s.

I bought my 98 300 tdi es disco from a friend a few weeks ago with a full mot. He told me the garage had had to mess with the abs to get the light to go out to pass the mot. Now I have noticed the light goes out but sometimes comes back on while driving.The brakes seem to work the same as before...

Have you done simple things like checking there are no splits or leaks in the turbo hoses? Rev the engine and squeeze the top turbo pipe and you should feel it go hard under pressure.If not you have a leak so no turbo and the car will be very sluggish.

Euro car parts do good deals on engine oil with there own triple qx brand. I got 4 x 5ltr 10w 40 for my disco 1 for £40 a couple of years ago. All oil gone now and the disco body is knackered but the engine is still sweet.Passed the mot emissions test no problem :) The rest of the car failed...

I have bought a 98 disco 300 as my 94 was rotten and tatty. Its a manual and it seems a bit sluggish even when compared to my old auto disco.I want to swap my delphi lift pump of the old disco on to the new so have ordered a new gasket . Will I need new olives for the pipes or will the old ones do ?

The truth is they are all getting old now and even the last 300 disco's are 16 years old . You can't expect them to be trouble free.I suppose its one of the better ones out of a bad bunch.

I tried to knock him down a bit but he wanted the full £1500 so I agreed. I had a drive round in it and it seemed ok and all the electric bits seem to work. Not used to the manual disco it was even more sluggish than my old auto :D I pick it up on thursday Hope I have more luck with this one...

My old 94 tdi has failed the mot with usual rust problems. I drove round to an old mates house and surprise surprise he had just mot'd his 98 tdi for sale.He has just done the boot floor and the rear wheel arches have been patched' only bad point was front inner wheel arches are starting to go...

Thanks Mark, I had a look but nothing near Manchester area. Will have to put up with using back passenger door to get in the back for now.[I use it as work vehicle with rear seats folded forward.
