BCME, Key fob or Imobiliser issue that Fixes itself!!!

that's me spending some time reading about it on Rave then.... I just can't understand why the lockout message actually released the car and let me start it. I was expecting it to lock me out for a period of time.

BCME, Key fob or Imobiliser issue that Fixes itself!!!

Data... how can these be checked? I get no message on the dash telling me it thinks its open or closed when the real situation is different. I read a lot of people saying strip and clean... but that is connected to dash messages saying that the doors open when its closed.

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

Pixie... The only thing Dick Turpin and this guy have in common in my opinion is the word 'DICK'.

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

Just to close this out guys... Paid the bill in the end to get the car back. The Hub was Genuine LR part... showed me receipt and box. Got trading standards on the case, but useless. No teeth and didn't really want to know. I could of requested one of two things. 1) return the car to how it...

BCME, Key fob or Imobiliser issue that Fixes itself!!!

Hi guys.... I have a 97 Auto DSE p38. I'll try and be as short as I can whilst providing as much info as possible. This is the second time this has happened, and both times I don't really know how IT or I fixed it... but I want to find out what the fault is so I don't get stuck or get the...

I read somewhere that the part numbers from old and new boxes are the same? that the only difference was the inside. Is it the box behind the boot lining side cover (drivers side)?

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

Got the vehicle back with a bill for £981!!! Pads front and back. 1 caliper on the front and 1 on the back (£65 each), rear brake pipes both sides and Gator. The bearing was a fiasco. He put a bloody brand new hub assy on at £460 part... probably coz he couldn't get the bearing out. Only thing...

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

John lad... thanks. I may be doing that if the bill is excessive, which if I'm honest I'm truing to establish. I really would like to be in the position of having some notion of what the price should be so I know if its fair or not.... I'd let the MOT run upto the date you see so I was a...

p38 mpg around 25+ around town

Auto??? Was the battery disconnected in the service? ECU reset possibly or the mpg computer if reset takes time to settle out so if your doing small miles then two weeks is about right from my experience for it to settle. My computer shows 24.9mpg (97 DSE Auto ECU-remap with roof bars on MT's...

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

I'd estimated that 8hrs should cover all the work.... which at internet parts cost (can't see why a garage should charge more). Trade prices are cheaper for him which allows his markup. If he's charging more (above +10% say) than retail prices its (my opinion) a rip off. I've come to about £630...

    First timer buying a P38

You can change the bags yourselves with a bit of research and apparently a new pair of knuckles..lol The clips can be a bit of a sod if old... so make sure you have clip set as you will probably have to knock the old ones out to release the old ones. I have a guide another forum member sent...

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

If honest £35 seas more like it p/h. No costs (other than £50 MOT) have been given so far... parts, time or anything. I'm trying to quantify the time for the listed work so I can have some notion of whats fair to charge me when I'm presented with the bill... at the moment you could say 5hrs for...

MOT time. What kind of bill to expect?

Hi guys, Its been a while since I posted last (I knew things where too good to be true)... Sent the old girl for an MOT and she failed on the following: 1) Pads worn (not bad I thought - normal) 2) Front wheel bearing excessive play (oh **** I thought - but ok they go) 3) Rear brake pipes...

    Hot Start fix Side effects

Well... in the interest of providing some feedback and some completion to close the post; I can confirm that the fix is still working as it should since refit. The issue was caused by bad connections, and therefore any advice for new installations should be to ensure that the connectors...
