    Need Urgent Advice and Help

Bloody Hell!! What a mix bag of emotions. I've just read through all 52 pages with both entertainment (at the banter), disgust (at the dealer), overwhelming sadness (for Jay going through this), and hope (that a good outcome can be salvaged from the situation). I can't give you any technical...

    Strange noise from right rear

Just been out (Jesus its cold)... no bloody snow though.... anyway. I couldn't see anything out of place and could't wiggle any particular part. However. If I rock the car sideways I can here the quite knock I'm trying to trace... I might end up with egg on my face here as my next move is going...

    Strange noise from right rear

here we go - names of parts I know are on the car but never had anyone show me which bits they actually are (lack of practice I guess)... I'll have to have a look if I can wrap up warm enough to last longer than 5 min outside. Might take some pics to make sure I'm looking or checking the correct...

    Strange noise from right rear

that's me told then...lol What I was eluding to was that I expected that the shock would 'knock' on a speed bump... which it doesn't. Having said that - I am quite 'green' with mechanics.

    Strange noise from right rear

Henrik... I have very similar sounds from my rear px area. Mine does it at slow speeds only and to start with I thought shocks but if you go over a speed bump or something you would expect to bottom out the shock; it doesn't and thus I don't think its a shock on mine. I'll post what i find with...

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Right.... booked into Garage for Thursday. Checking all UJ's and Changing Oils in Main Box, transfer and Axles. Feedback was that it could be a sticking gearbox valve and that a dose of stop slip may solve it otherwise it would probably be better to replace main box and transfer with recon /...

    Running boards

didn't know running boards are crumple zones.... thought they where just a pair of steps. If you want something that is designed to take impact and distribute a load then why not fit a pair of sill rock sliders..

    BC in 96 RR

Could it be that the stalk itself currently in the car is in actual fact a replacement part and that someone has simply not fitted the correct one? If this is the case - the connections would all be in place to simply replace the item with a genuine or correct part...

    p38 hot start problem 1995n 2.5 td

I had fitted a hotfix previously and found al sorts of problems.. when I inspected the installation I found that the blue connectors had not made correct contact as needed so ended up cutting away the insulation to allow correct connection. I also picked a thicker earth wire to connect to. I...

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Had the UJ done in June this year due to a noise like birds singing under the car when on light throttle. That fixed it. I've been back under to check everything and I cant move the front or rear prop shafts either vertical or horizontally by wiggling with my body weight. Do they need...

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Still going along with a clunk! I've been thinking about how to best describe the sound. It's almost like it slaps into gear on change down when slowing at a junction. I thought it was into first, but I now think its second. It slap/clunks/jolts into second then a slightly softer...

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

I haven't changed the oil ! as post; on inspection it didn't show it needed any. I did however top it up to be safe (which I acknowledge may not have been a good thing). I just don't know what could be causing the jolt as it only happens in 1st Gear.

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Hi Guys... It looks like the old girl is fixed on keeping me on the forum. Went for a run yesterday (about 80miles) and at about 75miles I noticed something she has never done before; When coming to a halt (example a roundabout), she will jolt as she changes down into 1st gear. It feels the...

    eas fault

What was the Hard fault code? (assuming you have got that fare).... The dash will read 35max when you play with the software connected anyway and remains on the dash even after you detach the lead. It should however clear when you switch the ignition back on (assuming that you cleared the...
