    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

The front diff was sourced by the garage and had a guarantee so if that's found to be the problem then it can go back. But its strange that two front diff would have same fault. Same noise, same feel same situation. The garage said that the VC was ok as they had to turn it 90deg to fix the...

    Need Replacement Boxes !

To save myself a few quid (as I don't have many of them) - I'm on the lookout for the above parts to replace as a unit... that way I wont be spending out on labour to replace both on separate occasions. I may stretch to a new torque converter as it is an internal component. I'm looking for...

    P38 DSE mod wish list

Well.. no modding until the beast stops clunking!!! Got to sort that first before I think of anything. Reality Check of P38 ownership biting hard at the moment.

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

Right then... got the car back from the garge today. Guy said that he'd test driven it about 10miles without any clunks at all. Was happy with the price so paid as fault was clear. :mad:WELL BUGGER ME!!! inside 50miles (all was well to start with mind you) the clunks back. So it wasn't the...

    Auto transmission problem

I understand that newish vehicles that show symptoms of sticking vales etc are cured from this. Its about £10 per shot and once in its in... its thicker than the ATF. I likened it to what Mag GTX was to engines when it first came out. They engine oil treatments also but as this oil in changed...

    FFS!!!! I've bin CONNED!!!...............

That kind of thing seams all too frequent these days.... but having said that - if you have that much experience what the hell are you doing working for anyone other than yourself. Why not set up on ya own as a consultant to local businesses saving them money ect on energy usage... steer them...

    I thought this was impossible...?

Looks like I'm late to this party.. I can see both Genuine and Iffy uses for this. Genuine being 'oh bugger, my clocks gone'. Do I pay new part price from the stealer or go second hand? hmm... I would go second hand if I knew I could get the mileage to match the vehicle (that goes for both Up...

    Auto transmission problem

I was recommended Lucas stop slip in the main box helps when you do the final oil change.

    P38 DSE 97 Auto 1st Gear JOLT

update: Vehicle due for pickup Monday with a guaranteed second hand diff and a px side abs sensor as the old one had stuck itself into the hub. VC has been checked and is fine so with fingers crossed it looks like the front diff was the cause of the clunking. Although the proof will be in the...

    Expedition prepped RR's - Classics or P38's!

Just thinking out loud but does anyone rate the ability to actually change a Tyre in the bush rather than change the wheel. I know it takes much longer but how often do people have to change the bloody things? I've seen kits that are small and easy (with tongue in cheek) to use... this means...

    Expedition prepped RR's - Classics or P38's!

I'd be fitting them to the roof on a roof cadge in that case... Looks cool but I could't trust it if it burst air bags etc. With my limited mechanical skills I'd be goosed in the middle of no where..lol

    P38 Battery charging improved

Out of interest... what should a good voltage be across a good bat and then from alternator to bat?? secondly - if setting additional set of connections up in parallel help things... why isn't this std practice? or is it just a work around for a weak altinator?

Auxiliary Fuel Tank or Jerry Cans?

I get ya... so my vehicle (P38) an aux tank in the spare wheel well would work as the aux tank base would be above the main tanks draw... and the top of the aux tank would be above the main tanks top... therefore, when the aux tank is full... so is the main tank so no need for a pump (assume a...

    Expedition prepped RR's - Classics or P38's!

Karel: Any more pics of the rear bumper mate... I like it coz it looks closer to the factory shape than any off road bumpers I#ve seen in a while... you make it or buy it?

Auxiliary Fuel Tank or Jerry Cans?

If the aux fuel tank is higher than the bottom of the main tank; can't you just use gravity to fill it? Redirect the fill spout to the aux tank which flows in the main one. When the spout goes click, both tanks are filled.... as long as the bottom of the aux is higher than the bottom of the...

    P38 Battery charging improved

Not trying to be funny... but I still don't get it. My comment was with regards to the amount of voltage generated by the altinator not how much resistance there is between altinator and battery. I am not questioning the fact that more of what IS being created will get the the batery...

Will this light bar fit my P38??

you could adapt a normal light bar to attach (bolt to) the roof bars. Line the bottom of the bar with foam padding to stop any rattle and movement. You may have to also pad the bottom of the lights if you angle them down... as these will otherwise bounce around just above the windscreen.

    P38 Battery charging improved

I don't get it. How would new connections between alternator and the battery increase the voltage across the alternator? I get how more voltage get from alternator too the battery, but not how it makes more voltage at the alternator itself.
