Disco 2 Washer Bottle QR connector

My facelift discovery 2 had suffered a bump to the front and I have just been replacing the bumper. The headlight washer pump outlet pipe had also broken off, so I sourced a replacement pump but now I come to connect it up I've found the pipe end of the "quick release connector" has snapped off...

    2004 discovery 2 td5 oil level rising

Are you absolutely sure its the rear camshaft oil seal ? Have you removed the engine cover and the smaller cover bolted to the back of the head ? Its the only way to check properly. Mine was dripping oil there but it turned out to be the rocker cover gasket, the half moon bit right at the back.

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

MJI - spurred on by the posts above I have done a bit of research and initially not good - first price was £42 per metre, per line, for custom hydraulic lines locally - plus VAT ! So 4 x 2 x £42 plus 2 x £42 , plus VAT then the machining on top. But have now got details of a local machine shop...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

Upgrading as per MJI's post would be my preference but I suppose I'm a bit worried about taking the front pipes off (which appear perfectly good) and then trying to find (a) a decent local machine shop to machine the block that doesn't want hundreds of pounds set up time, and then (b) finding a...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

Just a quick update - the prop came off with no problems, and everything seems in good order - looks like its been greased and looked after. The ARB/ACE all came off, but with a couple of issues. The head of the bolt on the upper side of the outrigger that holds the rear ACE pipe clamp had to be...

    2004 discovery 2 td5 oil level rising

I can vouch for this, changing the seals is not too difficult but you will need the correct tool/s for removing the fan, and improvise something to CAREFULLY lever out the injectors. I tried the "half a pipe wrench" method but my pipe wrench was obviously the wrong shape. I eventually stripped...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

I would never complain about the advice I get on this forum (unless it was intentionally misleading of course), its a godsend :) Owning a Land Rover need not be TOO painful if you have access to the right information and advice. And a good selection of tools of course :) And a fair bit of cash...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

Thanks ! So the old ACE pipes came out of the block OK and the new ones went in OK with new collets ? That makes me more optimistic, the person I spoke indicated the old pipes don't come out, so I was considering cutting and joining the new pipes to the stubs of the old. Sounds like that's not...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

Thanks, that's given me something to think about. I'll ask around locally about machining and making up the pipes.

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

Thanks brian47 and MJI ! When you sat "2m hoses much easier to bolt up" - what do you mean ? I've just had heart failure at the price of the rear ACE hoses - is there an alternative ? Seems something made out of Kunifer might make more sense seeing as the steel ones rust so bad. Would a...

Disco 2 Rear Proshaft and ACE roll bar removal

I've got a leaking ACE pipe at the rear of my Discovery 2 that's going to need replacing, so I was planning to drop the rear propshaft and then remove the rear ACE ram/rollbar assembly. This should give me a bit more space to get the ACE pipes out/back in and whilst its all off I can treat and...

    Disco 2 "Genuine" parts ??

All back together using the parts I bought, and yes the o rings were green. Ran the auto purge about 5 times to get rid of the air, started it up and let it idle for 5 mins. Turned it off, then ignition to pos 2 - no air in pump ! Took it for a short run this morning, about 3 times further than...

    Disco 2 "Genuine" parts ??

I removed the injectors this evening and the o rings on them are orange. There were no obvious tears or splits, and they weren't "hard" as such, but definitely not that elastic either, but the cross section was definitely oval - so they'd flattened noticeably. I have no idea if these are the...

    Disco 2 "Genuine" parts ??

According to the supplier, "G" after the part number shows its OEM quality, but not genuine. LR after the part number shows its genuine Land Rover.

    Disco 2 "Genuine" parts ??

And that was what I was expecting ! But the seller is adamant these are genuine LR but supplied through Britpart - apparently Britpart offer their own parts, then an OEM quality set, and then this Genuine Land Rover set.

Difficult to be 100% sure without opening the blue bag, but they look like they are.

    Disco 2 "Genuine" parts ??

I just bought a "DEFENDER TD5 DISCOVERY 2 TD5 GENIUNE INJECTOR WASHER KIT BRAND NEW DA2479LR" from a business seller on ebay. The kit was £47.99 and arrived this morning - a brown envelope containing 5 loose copper washers and a blue bag (like Britpart but unbranded) with 5 o'rings. Genuine...

Disco 2 Water in Diesel sensor - fitted to all TD5s ?

Thanks for the replies, I'll have another hunt for the cable but it sounds like it has probably been disconnected and stowed away. I won't worry about it and just concentrate on the air in pump problem.

Disco 2 Can't get rid of air in fuel pump (TD5)

I ran through the auto purge routine 5 times in succession this evening, and on the 4th cycle the air was gone from the pump. I ran it through the 5th time and still no air audible in the pump. So I let it sit for 10 mins and turned the ignition on again - still no air in the pump. "Yippee" I...

Disco 2 Water in Diesel sensor - fitted to all TD5s ?

Just looking at buying a new fuel filter for my 53 plate TD5 auto and noticed mine does not have a senor fitted to the bottom of the current Bosch filter. Was the water sensor fitted to all Discovery 2 TD5s or just the earlier ones ? Or has mine been "modified" ? I can't see any wiring tucked...
