Have you checked the gear box and transfer box oil levels? my v8i auto clunks when changing from drive to reverse but had the same noise on other makes autos.

I have a '92 V8i auto, also the wife moans at the fuel bill, but it has been a good runner, only done 93k and plenty of life in it still. if i had to change it then would go for a diesel, on a good run will get 250-280 out of the tank with about 11ltrs left.

Steering damper from Rimmer Bros P/N STC786 will set you back around £47 and what ever they charge for delivery. According to the haynes manual, it is very straight forward, just make sure the washers are installed in the correct sequence.

Does any one know how to check if a petrol V8i 3.5lt injection is high or low compression, need to know so I can check the timing is correct on the engine, my plugs seem to have a partial coating of carbon on them.
