You know you were a Range Rover driver when... *sees P38* "You're brave... Wow I miss mine!"

    Stereo code help please?

Check the back of the fuse box cover under the driver's seat. Sometimes they are printed there.

2.5L diesel engine stalls at idle or low RPM

I don't want to give you false hope but when I had a very similar issue just over a year ago and was fearing FIP and fuel quantity servos etc (I too had no faults) all it turned out to be was that I hadn't screwed the fuel filter on tightly enough post service so air was getting into the system...

    Posh diesel!

Not entirely true, someone I knew did a project a couple of years ago using high-performance liquid chromatography to analyse the contents of different petrol brands, and there were a lot more products in the supermarket brands (and Jet's) than BP or Shell. Now whether this actually makes a...

    mileage display Read out

There are 3 little bulbs behind the display, seems odd for all to go at once, is one side still slightly lit? Procedure is in RAVE and fairly straight forward, took me about an hour excluding shopping trip :)

    What Would You Do?

+1 My 1000 mile trip to Cornwall 2 years ago ( tempus fugit!) was completely trouble free, and that was with the puny battery fitted :P

    What Would You Do?

Take the Rangie... somewhere to refit the EAS! :P

So... With the engine off and the doors closed? :P

    Unhooking tin tent.

But but but.. Datatek told me that high winds could rock the car and lower the suspension???? Was that wrong?? :O It was in my first ever thread! Also it says in the handbook (01MY p.117) "With the starter switch turned off, the suspension will automatically re-level the vehicle every time a...

    Unhooking tin tent.

Won't it level down when the engine's not running? (With all doors closed)

And to avoid a centre of gravity change at high speed

    Unhooking tin tent.

As soon as you unhitch it the back will bounce up and it will self level, either immediately or when the doors are closed, there should be no problems :) I towed a speedboat and never had an issue.

Looking to buy a Range Rover

Well said :) Put in the maintenance and they're great cars! I gave up mine because I just didn't have the time to keep up the checks anymore, but it was definitely the best car I've ever had and I can't see myself feeling more fondly towards another! Personally I would go for the diesel...

Got a quote from the Garage (EAS)

I like that pun :P The replacement bags MUST be new, but Island4x4 do them for pretty decent value; ~£190 for all 4 (exc VAT), and if the front ones are shot and the backs haven't been changed, they will soon go too. The compressor you might be able to get a reconditioned one, someone else will...

+3 but... the electronics are quite bad :P

    A little reassurance

A valid point :P But the body, chassis, bearings and engine on mine were all still happy at just shy of 100k

    A little reassurance

Just had 2 cars, a Clio and an X-Type (both 10 years old) fail MOTs between them on worn bearings, smoke emissions, rust, suspension and breaks... neither on more than 60k miles. Harking back a year to when my old P38 sailed through with just an advisory... :) I think this is most...

    Quick Autobox Question

Park would presumably just snap with that amount of force on it. If the torque converter wasn't locked when R was selected (assuming the ECU let it) would it be able to absorb enough to avoid ruining the box, or at least the gear?

    Quick Autobox Question

Would it stop park or reverse engaging at speed too?
