    Disco Insurance

I was with sureterm, rang them to cancel and she asked why... So said that I wanted a company that did mods, she then asked what the mods were, got half way through telling her and she asks "are you going to go offroad?" hmmm, yeah!!! And then she said, "oh, you'll have to cancel then" Went...

    Word of warning!

People fit spacers to stop the wider wheels rubbing on the radius arms. Yes, they were all torqued up the same, with the impact gun on full torque (1000Nm). I agree that it is the side more likely to undo due to inertia. I have now tightened them up even more, with a bar. Will threadlock...

    Word of warning!

They bolt on to the hubs with new nuts (supplied with the spacers) and then the wheel bolts to the spacer.

    Word of warning!

No, they're the ones off the alloys but it wasn't them that came loose, it was the ones that hold the spacer on.

    Word of warning!

True, but I thought "I bet no ones tried this approach before!" Proper job!!

    Word of warning!

No, it's just that I didn't threadlock the spacers on, I knew it was loose but didn't have my jack with me to take the wheel off to tighten the spacer nuts. Was only 200yards away from my dads, where I'd planned to tighten it.

    sloppy transfer box stick

Chances are the collar on the linkage has come off, you should be able to get at it from underneath, it's a splined clamp the moves backward and forward for hi/lo and pulls another lever left and right for diff lock, if the clamp comes off the stick just floats around and the linkages don't...

Help big oil leak from somewhere.

FTC4939, transfer box output seal, did mine last week. Box looked same as that, luckily my front prop was already off so only a quick job, drain the box oil first tho, (if there's any left).

    Bent MOT ???

Yeah, why would it fail on the fuel cap? Everything else looks passable, infact the corrosion looks to be pretty mild compared to some I've seen of similar age.

    300 tdi performance

Turn the engine over by hnd until your timing holes line up, then put the timing pin in the injector pump. Slacken off the bolts that hold the pulley onto the injector pump and turn the engine backwards (anti-clockwise from front) only a couple of degrees though. Tighten up the bolts remove...

    300 tdi performance

you can also advance the fuel timing slightly and replace the lift pump as these wear quickly

    300 tdi performance

It might be worth moving the barbed nut on the top of the pump round 1/4 of turn, this will make it boost at lower fuel. And as motomoto says, an uprated intercooler, as any type of fuel or boost increase can't be fully appreciated without one. Alisport one off the bay wit silicone hoses - £480!

Thanks for the link Stu, I've just had a quote from them. £321! Forgot to put the mods in the "further info" box first time round, same price though. I'll give NFU a buzz when I get to work. I'm well pleased with £321 as I insured it standard when I was 24yo at a cost of £401!!
