Try looking around the exhaust silencer as there is a heat stopping plate. I know as mine came off and the noise stopped :-) Craig

According to the rave cd changing the diff looks to be quite a simple job? I take it that the shims are if you are rebuilding the diff which I would not even contemplate doing since you can buy new for abot £500 from Island 4x4. Craig

I only had to change the bearing that was on the end of the diff housing no shims. I take it changing the diff is going to be a bigger job than I thought as you mention shims? will it be easier to change complete axle? Thanks Craig

Well changed the pinion bearing on the rear diff and it is more than the bearing as I'm now getting a clonk as the wheels/diff go round so must be either diff or drive shafts with tooth/teeth missing well f*/*+d off now :mad:. Anyone know of someone breaking a P38? On another note...

Where do I start. My p38 diesel is up on chocks as Im fitting a new rear pinion bearing to the diff. I also have a new front wing waiting to be fitted and the heater "O" rings need replacing. My petrol P38 needs heater "O" rings replacing, both heater fans have packed up and there is a vibration...

Do you have the key code? I think you will have to enter this via the door lock to get her going again. The key code is a 4 digit number that you have to enter via the drivers door lock. From memory you have to turn key to lock 4 times i.e turn from vertical to horizontal and leave for 5 seconds...

Hi Have you checked out the relay for the fuel pump as I changed the fuel pump and had the same problem ande then found out that it was the relay

Well time for an update. Got the old diff pinion flange off and found that the nut that holds it on was only finger tight. It has had diff problems in the past as I can see a rubber gasket where it was fitted and not trimmed back. I have now found and ordered the bearing from the local stealer...
