I found it was some luck and some having a friend whos a mechanic to take along with you......... i paid £500 for my disco and so far it never missed a beat had the odd little problem with it but nothing major or expensive ... it s done 182k and iv found if you service it regular and keep an eye...

Do What i did when i was a new driver..... get a traders policy.... im thinking about going down that road again so i can buy a lil cheap run around to get me to work in the week and havin my disco on for the weekends!!!! i was with compi car when i was 21 and had only been driving for 6 months...

ok cheers getting it repaired in work the little dent hasn't weakened tge plate looks like it's just broke the weld seem so it's getting stripped down and rewelded up fingers crossed the leak will stop and I can spend the money on diff guards! :-s thanks for the help guys!!!

quick one........... are the diff cover plate and diff housing itself both steel i.e so i can do it on a normal mig welder or are they ally??????

Complete waste of a car!! what a load of gob****es!!! fair enough the engine may sound knackered but it could of had a decent gearbox axles and a load of usable parts that could of been used to put sum1 elses pride and joy and put it back into its former glory!!!

i got up a hour earlier for work today and had a look its not leaking were its been hit its actually on the seem were the palte is welded on... its not even 1mm wide cant see it by eye just see the oil seeping out so iv put a bit of j b weld on it and its not done much good im hopefully going to...

just had my discovery serviced and they diagnosed a leak to be coming from the front diff appears to be damaged by a rock or something.... is it better replace the front plate if this is even possible or replace the entire diff? :mad:

howdy, thinking about painting my disco black i like matt black but dont want to go down that route, so im thinking about gloss black iv seen some on ebay "military gloss black paint" would this have a decent gloss finish if applied by roller and if so how much would i need? and what type of...

problem sorted with the 2wd it was just the diff lock linkage all sorted now and runnin a dream! went for a little play once sorted and found some mud to test my new tyres!! havin some trouble uploading but have got some wicked pics off chip finally muddy:D

not goin into difflock need to adjust the lever hopefully this will sort it!! still going to get is services for my own piece of mind

ok bit of update... tyres landed yesterday got them put on with standard suspension :doh: rubbbbbbbin! so today we set out to fit the suspension i got off ebay! went to local land rover shopand got some poly bushs for the shocks and away we went! really happy with the results only thing is me...
