If you do a search on here you'll find a million reasons why you might have no drive to one or other axle. If you don't have the centre diff lock engaged you won't have any drive at all if something's broke in one of your axles. Are you sure there's no drive to the rear? There are hundreds of threads on here about how the LR trasmission and drivetrain works and why it might not.

... as hughesy says.

... but also ... and this isn't a dig at you ... many people fit larger tyres and lifts without realising that they're immediately putting extra strain on the engine and driveline, so the moment they go offroading they suddenly can't get up a hill they always used to be able to. If you don't work the difflock, transfer box and the lower gear ratios to gain torque then fitting bigger tyres will bog you down every time. Bigger, chunkier treaded, tyres generally means more traction, which means more power needed to move ...

I also know a few people who had reasonable vehicles, not particularly well maintained, but not bad examples, that fitted 'stuff' and suddenly find there's no grunt even in lower gears .. all down to a lack of servicing and maintenance. The minute you add more strain is the minute you either break stuff or need it working top-notch ... Many a problem vehicle has been 'cured' just by a bloody good service, clean-out of air system and intercooler, change of oils and filters and a general fettle/re-grease of all moving bits.

Rant over ... ;)

many people fit alot of kit to a motors many thpusands of pounds worth and at the end of the day its still a rough uncared for heap with loads of bling attached to it. not servicing the engine axles and props will lead to trouble. Me reckons ya difflock wasnt Engaged steep hill front wheels spinning sounds about right as your weight transfers rearward..

ow just noticed the suspension mods possibly springs are too stiff anorl like most "lift kits" available still think the difflock wasn't engaged and the lift and tyres havn't elped!

i was told when buying the car it had just been serviced as i bought it off a haulage company and it was used as there mechanics recovery vehicle iv had a mechanic loook over it and all seems fairly new and well maintained...... no offense taken its all a learning curve and what seems obvious to you guys is still a foreign language to me! cheers

Whereabouts are you? Put your rough location into your UserCP .. someone local might be able to have a looksee and help a little. ;)

What was the car doing/not doing, that led your mate to think that you only had the front 2 wheels driving? How did he come to this conclusion?

Don't mean to be funny, but if you were watching my car going along, how would you know which wheels were driving and which weren't?
