V8 fuel tank and pump. One for the experts !!

Always thought mine is 80 ltr, or 85. Pretty sure actually. And the fuel gauge has always shown according mileage etc. Other thing, why is there a return line from the engine ? Fuel is burned no doubt. ? Or is this to make sure the engine always gets enough petrol for acceleration, i.e...

V8 fuel tank and pump. One for the experts !!

Hi, Trying to understand my V8 petrol tank and fuel pump. This may solve a long standing problem with fuel starvation at quarter tank. Do I understand correctly that the left inlet tube (see photo) fills the cup at the bottom of the pump when fuel level is low ? And if so, where does...

    which is better

A bit late on this thread and haven't read all. But I find any V6 (Jag) or v8 (poss v12, like to try that !) a phenomenal machine. Any time over a dull diesel. (though I find the diesel invention fantastic ! - our German fellas are great engineers) Got my 3.5 V8 for 16 years now, and...

To help the trouble shooting: Why did it have to go to the mechanic. I mean what was the problem he had to fix ?

V8i fuel pump removal - pump stuck

Well got it sorted. Post some pics. A stone chisel and a firm tap with a lump hammer did the trick. Once the red plastic ring moved it came loose. From there it was not too difficult. I cleaned the filter and the cup it is in. Note the fuel level float and pot-meter. Putting it...

V8i fuel pump removal - pump stuck

Tried to tap it around with stone chisel. Will try a bit "heavier" now I know it can take it. (Think its never been off in 22 years.)

V8i fuel pump removal - pump stuck

Hi guys, Been a while, but now got some time to fix my long over due problem with my fuel pump. At least that is what I suspect. My Disco 1 V8i has now, for many years, run on 3/4 tank. As soon as the tank capacity gets to 1/4, fuel starvation plays up. I have explored many solutions over...

    WARNING Everything is known.

As we all know now, from this site the government knows exactly: - How many cars you have. (taxable) - How you modified them. (taxable) - How much work you've done on them. (taxable) - How many miles you drove (taxable) - how many vehicles you scrapped (taxable) - Which lanes and routes...

    confusled

I also would initially think something electrical. Stopping and than perfectly working is not often mechanical. Not sure what elecs you got for your engine, but I had a relay playing up in the past. It reacted to different temperatures and moisture in the air.

    Bleed'n Brakes !

Used the Gunson Eezibleed (Halfords, MachineMart or any other car parts shop) and got it properly sorted in no time with no effort. Highly recommended !

    Bleed'n Brakes !

Ah, yes, flexi pipes not clipped. Now it makes sence. Better not mess about anymore and bleed it properly all the way.

    Bleed'n Brakes !

Can I use the compressor in this somewhere ? (low pressure no doubt) How does that press bleed system work ? Where does it apply the pressure.

    Bleed'n Brakes !

All nipples are bleeded. And in sequence. Just the top one that is less enthousiastic then the others. Can I bleed the top one on its own till it produces lots of fluid and then the both of them together (and 3rd one after), or do I have to do the 2 (inside nipples) together all the way...

    Bleed'n Brakes !

Just did both front in the sequence as described. And the near-side front, which lines were not disconnected, bleeds perfectly clean all the time.
