I believe the reason land rover fitted the smaller pulley to the alternator was to make sure the alternator still charged the battery even at tick over.

thanks for the quick reply, but there is only a difference of 5mm in the two belt lengths and the tensioners still has plenty off free movement upwards. cheers

my serpentine belt snapped the other day,my mate gave me a belt, its spec is as follows 7pk1575, the correct spec should be 7pk1580. Anyway i fiitted the 7pk1575 and found that the tensioner could still move upwards by about 40mm. My question is this. Can i use the 1575 belt or do i have to...

sean, you say you want evidence ive got 4 gummed up pistons sitting in the back of my 300tdi and i was using the diesel veg conversion. 700 quid later im back to using the stuff that comes out of the ground.

hi i had the same problem on my disco, it turned out to be a faulty impellor on my water pump. if i were you i would look in that direction first.

px24 is the miltary number for wd40 i used it in the 70s on phantoms

just changed the vent plugs for those made for domestic rads. bled the rad everything now running at the right temp. cheers mad. good modification.

had the same prob, look at the three pin plug you need a new one

d on forget the price is about 440 pounds plus fitting, so the total is about a grand. unless you do it your self.

oh dear, the same thing has happened to my 300tdi, it sounds like the synchro cones are worn, you can live with it, or get a recon box from ashcrofts. they charge 445 quid plus fitting, total about a grand

try using ebc pads, good quality, excellent braking, and cheaper than the original pads.

Be careful i seem to remember that you have to add a chemical to the old chip oil to make it useable.
