Like he says, a piece of ****. I've done mine a few times, but make sure you put the new HG on the right way round, or you end up with oil everywhere. Like me.........what a prat!!!
Unlikely that both are knackered. Best to drain front and rear axles and check diffs for bits of broken metal. Likewise for T box, and gearbox. Then you will have a better idea.
The head gasket has gone on my D1 and I need to get to Gloucester in the morning to pick up our horse. Anybody fancy a trip from Nuneaton to Gloucester in the morning. PLEASE!!!!:doh::doh:
Wheel bearings are easy. Just remember that the mangled mess of metal you take off used to look like the new one once upon a time. And plenty of grease!!
Don't know, but bent axle casing, bent front trailing arms, or as you say, misaligned axle. Have you measured front and rear axles, centre to centre, front to back?
Before you part with your cash, undo the drain plugs on both and check for big lumps of metal. If there are any, apart from filings you may have issues. both plugs are magnetic so you should be able to tell quite easily.
