mate thanks so much for your time and insight. I tried the pipes and was firm with give rather than bloated. AND I drove 350 miles after tightly fitting the cap and no major issues. Electrics got funny at the end S & M buttons () flashing but that's another pre-existing story. Thanks again...

Also, spew didn't happen until engine stopped running I think. I am on the road and not able to get a new cap if that's the fix. It could have been on tighter. Could that simply be it? Thanks guys!

Also to mention , the transmission fluid that came out of the car yesterday was dark/ filthy.

Also just to be clear. When I start the car the red light is not illuminated. Only comes on after about 15 minutes of the engine running.

As per suggestion of another thread, I've run through the gear range with the brake down to make sure that the new fluid is throughout the transmission.
