    2 K disco? Help

I would go for the newer one, an R reg should be a lot cheaper to fix rot problems and 127k is not a lot for a 300tdi. Whether the rust holes are an mot failure depends on exactly where the holes are. I couldn't quote the rules on what rust means an mot failure but i'm sure someone on this...

    Camo paint for disco?

Personally i think the disco has all the right features to pull off a camo paint job. I reckon it would be a real head turner either in real tree or traditional camoflage. Go for it

    After some advice again!

Number 3 sounds good, 178k is big mileage but if its been well maintained it shouldn't be a problem. Remember to check for rust

Is the Discovery a 'Proper' Land Rover?

Great comments people, well the positive ones anyway! My interest in Land Rovers started with my dads series3 but the fact is as a family vehicle the Discovery is the best compromise. A proper Land Rover that is comfortable, safe, looks the part, is very practical and such fun to drive!

Is the Discovery a 'Proper' Land Rover?

A couple months ago a friend of a friend told me that my Discovery was not a 'proper' land rover. It made my blood boil!!!!!!!!!!! So i wrote to LRO magazine seeking advice. See the readers letters pages of the latest issue if your interested in their editors comments on the subject. RyanP:cool:

    Easy 4WD system question

Thank you very much for all your replies everyone, i'm still learning about all the mechanical stuff but i was sure the discovery was 4wd all the time. So the series land rovers have selectable 4wd and low/high range and the 90/110/defenders are permenant 4wd with low/high range and diff lock...

    silly questions about numbers

200tdi was so called because of the amount of torque it produced, (nearly 200 foot pounds) and the 300tdi is so called because it was the third phase of the tdi engine development project. The second being for the mod. (Just finished reading a book about Discoverys!!)

    Easy 4WD system question

This might sound like a silly question but someone at work told me today that my discos 4wd system worked just the same as his frontera. I'm told that my disco is rear wheel drive until i engage low range which also activates the front propshaft and makes it 4 wheel drive. ??? I honestly...

In Cornwall? looking for a disco? don't even bother looking at this one

Its at gmo motors in penzance and its on the auto trader website if you really want a picture. I didn't bother with a link as this thread was more for information purposes rather than to start a debate

In Cornwall? looking for a disco? don't even bother looking at this one

I was following the mpi vs tdi debate earlier and did a search on the auto trader website for discos in cornwall. I looked at this m plate 300tdi at gmo in penzance in may. It was up for £2500 but is down to £1200 now. This disco might sound good with only 73k and i nice pic, but please don't...

    anyone with 235 85 16s

I posed the same question to a off roading geek that i know a while ago. He said they would be ok, but if i wanted to do any proper off roading then i would need a 2" lift and some trimming of the wheel arches.

Whats best to prevent rust/protect chassis

You may be able to brush waxoyl on, i'm not sure. But spraying is probably the easier and more effective option. The waxoyl spray adapter thing is about £12 i think

Whats best to prevent rust/protect chassis

I've recently treated my 95 disco. I throughrally pressure washed underneath, got a tin of waxoyl for £20 and sprayed until the can ran out. I used a mates compressor but you can buy a pressure sprayer from halfords. I'm not saying that is the best way but from the people that i've spoken to it...

    R380 gearbox/transfer box

This poor bugger has asked this question twice now and no replies! I don't know, but my guess is that the R380 gearbox will bolt to either the V8 or the 300 Tdi engine. Can anyone more knowledgeable agree? Or call me an idiot? If nobody else replies try paddock or LRO magazine
