2.5dse misfire back again AArgh !!

UPDATE  All rebuilt I went out for about 15 miles - ran beautifully. Left for 1 hr my wife got in to move it and splutter cough etc. So I decided it must be the vacuum in the tank. After being left it sucked fuel backwards & introduced air bubbles. So...... Today I removed the...

2.5dse misfire back again AArgh !!

Dogsbody - yes thanks, I have replaced with a new ignition switch, probably forgot to mention as I have lost track. Swindon 4x4 had it on Test book for a week including live data monitoring and gave up in the end. I think that the problem is all these monitoring tools look for faulty...

2.5dse how to get camchain guide back in

Sorry Kev100s I can't. I set the TDC as per RAVE & made sure cam lobes were flat & upwards then locked the crankshaft in place. I also marked everything with white lines so I could make sure of alignment when it all went back. SO I didn't both with counting the holes - not much help I'm...

2.5dse misfire back again AArgh !!

Yes, I don't think it is a misfire as such, but rather an electrical problem like something shorting out - the engine cuts out momentarily, but on occasion will actually stop completely. Also occasionally will not start (turn over) although all lights on dash look OK. BUT it can run perfectly...

2.5dse misfire back again AArgh !!

After changing numerous components I thought I had cured the misfire until the final straw cracked the head. Well head is now replaced & this morning it ran fine until.... yes the misfire started again. Wondering id it could be the RF reciever mis-sending signals to the Becm because this...

2.5 bmw torquing down the head

well all done, but it wasn't possible to tighten more than a few more degrees, not by 90 deg. I used a 3ft breaker bar and most of the bolts were absolutely solid. Anyway, pretty sure they are now tight !!:o Car ran beautifully until .... the old misfire problem has returned  This seems...

Pity about Swindon 4x4 they also did some work for me - again free of charge, perhaps that's why they are no longer in business  shame - very helpful people. Anyway, if it's airbags & service you are after my local garage can do that, he deals with a lot of RR and Land Rovers...

2.5 bmw torquing down the head

at last my car is running again with new head. But using new stretch bolts and following the instructions in RAVE I first torqued the bolts down as instructed, then the 'undo by 180 degrees' completely loosened the head bolts then torqued up as described, then tighten by 90 degrees fairly...

2.5dse how to get camchain guide back in

It's in now. On removing I found there were 'prongs' on the bottom so obviously they needed to be located over some sort of bar. I just lined it up then pushed a bit harder and it went into place - phew

2.5dse how to get camchain guide back in

Yes, I use the special tool to lever the tensioner down & inserted the pin. I still have the pin in place holding the tensioner (not yet put back in). Can't work out why the guide won't slip down far enough  Just though of a possible work around. If I can remove the guide I could...

2.5dse how to get camchain guide back in

well the new head is on and torqued down. RAVE now say to refit the camchain tensioner & camchain guide. BUT the guide will not go fully back down into place so I can't get the bolts through  Is there some trick to this, do I have to fit the tensioner first to pull the chain & make way...

Had enough it's going on eBay

eBay have removed my item from sale because I used naughty words "make me an offer" and this breaches their rules & implies I want to sell outside - I didn't. However I now have to take their 15 minute on-line tutorial if I want to re-list - who do they think they are ffs  Yes the...
