what is dripping from my front diff ??? P38 DSE

Fixed. It was a leak pipe between two of the injectors. Interestingly I had heard that if a leak pipe is even cracked it can cause a stutter or misfire, let alone disconnected !! But in this case it made no difference to the performance , possibly because I have a Powerbox fitted...

Argh...Can't get an answer, wot PSI box?

Don't know about PSI - can you sent them a mail via their website, perhaps they will answer based upon VIN. In case it's of interest, I just bought one of these Power Box 2 - Diesel Fuel Saver for Range Rover P38 at www.rimmerbros.co.uk it doesn't mention a different one for 2000 onwards ...

what is dripping from my front diff ??? P38 DSE

ah oil cooler - thanks I shall check that. Yes the top of the diff is wet but it's a small amount when stationary and it's difficult to see where it came from - possibly blown backwards from further up front. Think I'll have to lay it up until I can get a day off work to strip it to find the...

what is dripping from my front diff ??? P38 DSE

there is a smell of diesel, but no signs of any leakage, so I can't find out if it really is diesel. Here's the thing - it feels like oil and does not smell at all - definitely not like diesel ! If it is oil, it is absolutely clean, and it is not thick oil. Any ideas what could drip...

    6 beeps on starting

what sort of beeps are they - all the same note? and are they from inside or are they the alarm system warning you of something ? When I turn mine off I get 6 beeps but they are high-low, high-low, high-low (if that makes sense). If you leave the bonnet open & start the car you can trigger a...

Real buying advice from real RR owners please HELP!!

I have a 1998 P38 DSE same BMW lump I believe as the newer L322. Having fitted a PSI Powerbox it flies compared to the original car. This has turned it into a really great car - and I thought it was good to start with ! On the reliability front you should have no probs with your enthusiasm for...

    P36 DSE misfire cured !!!

I agree it sounds impossible and I expect it is - it can't really dry the fuel, but whatever it did do worked. I would love to hear from Wynns as to how it works and what it really does  Incidentally, before I fitted the new head I cleaned the injectors thoroughly and they were shining...

    P36 DSE misfire cured !!!

Yes but it wasn't that - I put some injector cleaner through when that was first mentioned. In fact I tried two lots and have also been running on Shell V-Power as recommended elsewhere. It was water in the fuel - the stuff I tried this time was Dry Fuel :) and after about another 50-60 miles...

    P36 DSE misfire cured !!!

After 3 garages gave up (one a RR specialist) I had replaced lots of parts in an effort to cure the misfire. Of course Testbook & Faultmate said speed sensor invalid value - well it was because of the misfire. Eventually the head cracked so I have now replaced that. All back together & still...

p38 diesel fuel filter - Britparts any good?

I have had a (very) intermittent misfire for some time. It's a long story but no-one has been able to cure. But it seems to be intermittent fuel starvation and just wondering if this could because I replaced all the filters at last service with a set from Brits parts. I have seen some...

    New battery

Yes, I have used Performance Batteries 3 times (twice in the past on Discos), and more recentlyfor a new battery for my 2.5 DSE. I bought the Alphaline C31-1000 Battery. Great service and fast delivery - good batteries that seem to last as well. I have had no problems so far. Have left for...

2.5dse misfire back again AArgh !!

So when I fix the bonnet switch (see other thread) I will get it MOT'd, taxed then sell it I think. I don't know where to go now as most of the car has been replaced. Anyone interested PM me & I will give you a list of all the things that have been done - it's a lovely car and only 123,000 miles.

p38 how do you get to the bonnet sensor switch ??

Yes, that's it. I removed it but still very little access as there are some other body parts in the way - I cant even see the thing so not really sure what I am doing with it. Think I'll have to take out the battery & a few other bits after all. :(

p38 how do you get to the bonnet sensor switch ??

I mean the little square micro switch attached to the RH bonnet catch. I took out the grill and the centre piece (I think call the bash plate or similar), still cant get to it. I can just get some fingers in to put it into place but still get the bonnet open message. Someone said it is a 2 min...
