Well done, err, Colin......You deserve a bit of good luck, hope it serves you well. I would have liked to have seen the TD5 when you viewed it, but I have been upto my eyes in it all weekend, Verwood was a tad far unfortunately. Glad you got sorted. Happy christmas.

    Insurance and modified vehicles

Thanks for all the replys and opinions guys.......I might dip my toe in the water and ask, ahemm, 'What would it cost if I added these parts'? I'm insured with Admiral, as they were the only company who could do us a decent multi-car policy. I had trade insurance before, and that was great...

    Arc welder - aldi's

Something is only '****' if you've had a bad experience with it......my Aldi gassless MIG is excellent for the price, and its done loads of hours, including some heavy gauge steel and chassis repair........ok its not a Murex or a Lincoln, but its good enough for home use. If it was used for 8...

    Arc welder - aldi's

I have got an Aldi gasless (flux-core wire) MIG, as well as a big old Oxford oil cooled Arc and a Murex ACDC TIG. I use the Aldi set all the time, for quick fabbing-up, panel repairs, and it even has enough amps and heat to do chassis steel on the right wire speed.....its cheap but its a very...

Is there much diffirence in power between the 2.5 and 300TDi

Thats interesting, and good info IMO. I once briefly worked in a place where they tested military engines and equipment, everything from Jet engines to generators They test and test and test to destruction, covering just about all scenarios including, running out of oil, water, water in fuel...

    Insurance and modified vehicles

I just wanted to know what people were declaring as modifications on their LR's for insurance purposes (if at all!!!) I have a Disco 1 with a 2" lift kit, modular rims and Cooper STT tyres, winch bumper (well will have in a week's time), but have not declared any mods to my insurance. I have...

    engine rattle on cold start

When was the oil last changed mate?......old crappy oil won't lubricate as it should. Also what viscosity is it? If the oil is too thick, and with the cold weather, it is too viscous to lubricate properly. Sorry if it sounds like sucking eggs etc.

Will Discovery 3 wheels fit on a Discovery 2?

All I can say is, without these little mini-soap operas, the forum would be a very boring place.............so keep up the bull**** guys.......its quite entertaining, no matter who is right or wrong.

What do you intend to use the Disco for? 33" tyres are very big.

    Winch bumper with air con

I don't want to do away with it really, it is a luxury, but is handy in the (short) summer. The trouble is the truck is so tidy, its a shame to rip it out.......I only wanted a winch bumper for clearance etc, but I dont really need a winch if I'm honest........was just going to fit one if I had...

    Winch bumper with air con

Thanks for the reply. Basically, there is a second hand bumper for sale, which I think is from a non-aircon Disco. As long as the actual bumper fits the truck still, I can probably modify it to take the winch. I take it the bumper can still be mounted, aircon or not?

    Winch bumper with air con

FIRST OFF, I HAVE SEARCHED, but cannot find a clear answer. I am looking to fit a winch and bumper, but just want to check if there are any issues with the air con on my Disco 1 300TDI. Are all the winch bumpers a universal fit, or do I need a specific one. Thanks in advance.

    Discovery 300tdi HELP URGENTLY NEEDED

It still runs into a few hundred quid, which she thinks might be better spent on a new vehicle, but thats fair comment.

    Discovery 300tdi HELP URGENTLY NEEDED

Thats right. Its always a tricky decision to trade in or whatever, better the devil you know and all that. Its not my car, so I dont want to say she should keep it or not. She knows the vehicle, it needs a few quid spending on it, and its just a case of weighing it up. It all depends whats...

    Discovery 300tdi HELP URGENTLY NEEDED

That is how I explained it........about £50 in bits (bolts, head gasket and top end kit), plus it needs a rad, P gasket weeping.......and any other issues on the way..........plus maybe a head skim. Labour free, thats anywhere from £200 and up. Its only DIY'able if you have the knowledge...
