    Looked at a P38 today - here's the problems, are they serious and whats the fix?

    im no expert but can give some info ive picked up while owning mine. The handbook symbol on the hevac means theres a fault and you would need to have the fault codes read. As with the steering it seems to be a thing with the p38, could be steering damper or maybe tyres. it seems a fair-ish price...

    think its worth a shot, if i remember the map sensor cost me about £30, better to start with the cheaper stuff first! i did change the pipe which runs from underneath it at the same time as it was in pretty poor condiiton.

    I had a similar problem a while ago and replaced the map sensor and the hose which attaches to it and that seemed to cure the problem.

    What were you expecting people to say"oh I'm sure it will be fine even though its over heated numerous times" the v8 are hard enough on a good day let alone an overheated one!. But everyone did give you a good idea what's up with it ............................its fooked.

    Think he swapped his p38 for a golf if I remember right. Did anyone see the photo he posted when having eas faults, it was quite funny the rear end was up sticking up far too much.

    I'm seriously considering taking mine off the road for a while and completely renewing/ refurbing the eas, even if things arent broke i would renew it I.e seals etc. What would be the going rate for all the parts required. I'm thinking of uprated bags. Also I never hear on here the airlines...

    means "go to local land rover dealer, hand over cheque book, bend over and prepare to be ripped off" or take it to an indy have the fault codes read and fix it yourself.

    i would agree with data, my thought is the pipes delaminating, but i would highly advise having the fault codes read first then take it from there.

    Those wheels did come on the p38 but were 18s, as said above I wouldn't risk the p38s weight on a set of gaylander wheels.

    saw the advert for the p38 last night, they've got a y reg 4.0 hse and i had a look at the tv guide and its says they have trouble with the sat nav to fix and guess what..................the suspension!!!!
