well done it head is off !!!! pistons and bores look very good head gasket very bad black track from bore to push rod tube on cylinder one gasket shot through feeling like this is the root of the problem . hot spots are cracked badly all have been taken out ,i cant see any cracks in the head...

do okey cokey and turn around thats what its all about:D time to start drinkin the new year in have good night all thanks for the replys

any tips for doing the head gasket would be very welcome

good point but mot looms and the smoke is bad i might have to find somewhere to store it untill i got some money

if i remove the head and gasket is not blown what would you suggest my next action. are cracks visible to the eye and will valves rattle around if guides are worn. piston cracks would probably mean the end of my engine as rebuild might be to exspensive .

it drives ok but smokes bad from breather pipe which i have removed from air filter cab fills with white smoke

it starts fine but it chuffs out the top of rockercover allot and from dip stick when i checked today there was thin black oily liquid driping from air fillter seems very thin not like oil but more like diesel but very black dipstick still reads full no change at all

no loss of oil or water oil was in air filter but no loss in sump ?

any problems on yours or was it ok will i need new inlet and exhaust gaskets can i use old ones again

pump turned up fitted it in no time bled steering box good as new :D now waiting for me shocks to turn up. looking for our next trip out now going to buy a map that shows green lanes in devon so we can go exploring down this way .

got the old pump off bit of a struggle to get the last bolt the fluid was black not sure why must have cooked it somehow just waiting for new one to arrive .while i was underneath noticed back shock is leaking aswell more things to do trouble is its me only wheels but its good getting me boy...

had a good look at the pas today in the daylight moped up all the fluid and found pump leaking from the front did a search on forum most people seem to recomend a new pump and not bother trying to repair old one . phoned the garage were i bought me 110 to see if they had a used one i could buy...

home now arms like popeye everything ok except landy but i think it only needs new pump or maybe repair old one thanks trewey and blue beastie for the quick response to my cries for help.look at pumps in the morning dont think i can take any big shocks on cost tonight im cracking open the larger...

it only seems to drive pas so it should be ok hopefully thanks again
