Fitting cam seals can be a real bugga especially if you don't knock them in perfectly square.... In the past I have had to go as far as removing the cam's then fitting the new seals and sandwhiching the seals into position so they wouldn't leak. Also when removing the old seals be very careful...

If push comes to shove I would just put a link lead from relay to your inop bulb carrier using a 15 amp in line fuse??? But first give your earth point a good clean. Make sure the contacts on the connector are clean and a snug fit. Like I said If the other side is working then the relay is ok...

Get a brand new bulb....... Theres nothing to say the one out of your garage is dodgy??

To prolong the life of my vcu it comes off in April and goes back on around now.......

It's definately not a relay fault as both headlights share the same relay. The earth point is behind the head lamp more than likely on the inner wing (black wire). I'd be inclined to check for a good earth or check continuity between earth point and connector. If that checks out ok check for...

I have the online wiring diagram's from autodata and believe me you dont want to plugging in the incorrect abs ecu, some smoke may appear!!!...... Bide your time one will turn up or even e mail a few breakers on ebay and such like. I have a 2000 TD4 that I'm breaking I'll have a look at the part...

Even as an experienced mechanic myself piston and seal kits can sometimes prove a bugga to fit.......... My advice, Exchange yours for a re-con unit.

Right then guy's I have a perfectly good td4 engine complete with loom and applicable ecu's, but I am just wondering what kind of a job it would be to change it from the existing k series. Ie will my manual box be a straight swap, wiring loom issues etc..... I am a time served jag/Landrover...

Does sound like it could be purely an error on the MOT tester's behalf..... As a tester myself I come across similar scenario's all the time, as shameful as it sounds i'm forever coming across testers who don't even know near side from off side and so on....... Scary
