    cold heater

On my current rangie, heater's not bad, though only had it since april, so not REALLY had to rely on the thing to keep winter cold out.... and it has a heated front screen...... a toy that's new to me and I LIKE! Anyway, previouse Rangie, almost identical, bar the number plate, and it had a...

    classic abs brake nightmares !!

On the ABS models, starting point for almost ALL brake feel niggles is to revisit the bleeding procedure and do it EXACTLY like the book says with a pressure ez-bleed, after fully depressurising the system, ignition off, pumping the pedal about 60 times! As for the ABS lamp; if it still stays...

    Frustrated by Electrical Fault!!

There's any number of possibilities in here; but modern C&U standard, call for a trailer socket with an audiable alert for the indicators, as well as an iluminated 'tell-tale' on the dash. Most modern cars have the tell-tale in place, and a relay with a load sensor in it so that it lights the...

seen this on abay , any good ?

If clamping a couple of magnets around the fuel lines could SOMEHOW, and it entirely defies science that it even MIGHT, but if it COULD........ give ALL those improvements claimed..... with EVERY single manufacturer spending GAZILLIONS trying to meet ever tougher emmission controls, offer better...

    Are Britpart really Sh*tpart..?

Its a lottery with Britpart; some of thier stuff aint all bad, trouble is you never know..... Which, if you are buying something buried deep in the gearbox, can be rather annoying if you have to dig all the way back in to it to repace a duffer earlier than you should, especially if its...

    Tyres for Snow and Ice

How many words do the Eskimo's have for snow? Used to do a lot of skiing, and the 'behaviour' of snow in the US was hugelt different to in Europe, and there were big differences in texture from top of the mountain to the bottom, and from valley to valley..... And here in the UK.... well our...

looks like a chinese copy of the old lucas contactorless dizzy they used on the montego.... which is built in china mow, innit? Montego dizzy did work on the series engines; drops straight in and does away with the points; has amp unit on the side, and provided you use an elecronic ignition...

    EPS power steerings.

If its the same one we discussed before; chap selling the 'kits' had it fitted to a MKII Escort stage rally car to give assistance to a high ratio rack and wide offset wheels, and it was electrically powered. Looked at it and gave an angineering assessement which was that its intended to drive...

    cold heater

Indulge me in a little experiment:- Switch the gas system OFF so it is running on petrol, full time. Let the engine idle, until the temp guage is indicting running temp, some-where near middle guage. Then try the heater on all the variouse settings, checking for heat out of the vents and on...

    If you're found not guilty...

Be better to make the CPS responsible for court costs, as if they were a private pettisioner; Ie: judge ruled costs against them. If they started having to pay costs, they'd be a bit more choosey in bringing teniouse cases in the first place, saving both private individuals and the ruddy...

    series free brake trouble

Adjusting the shoes is a good start, but series brakes are notoriousely bludy hard to get all the air out of, as the ruddy nipples are in the wrong places! Worth trying a couple of tricks; First one, doing a wheel at a time, drum off, shoes out the way. compress the wheel cylinder as hard as...

That particular suggestion conjoured up an image of a free-lander owner attempting to follow the suggestion, and then putting up a post, "Cant get chain-saw through dash!" to which you'd reply........ "Have you tried starting the chain-saw"....... You know, like the joke about the Irish Lumberjack!

    Help Required Freelander Warning lights

All three warning lamps are connected to the brakes, via the abs sensors on the wheels that also control the brake actuated HDC and TC I suspect that when the brakes were meswsed with, something hasn't been connected or re-set, or as likely the abs sensor ring is covered in old iron filings...
