Well it made it to our place with no fuss, towed behind a Tdi 90. Now that we are able to look over it, a few things have shown themselves. Firstly, it seems very original, the correct radiator is fitted, I can't see anything unusual about it that shouldn't be there, apart from a defender...

I take it you mean 900s...what patterns and where from? Bargrips seem to be about sometimes but are generally a waste of time in my experience.

Depends on the rim width. For 5" swb rims, 650x16 is the max. The slightly wider lwb rims will do 750x16 or metric equivalent, 1 ton rims are upto 6.5" wide and will go up to 900x16 (with suspension mods) but good luck finding any of those...

This is always a sticky situation. The series 3 body parts count for nothing, they are a shame on a IIA, but do not affect the points system. The chassis does, as would the running gear etc. It is possible to tell IIA axles from series 3 (serial number prefixes etc) and the chassis will be...

Making it look like a sort of defenderish thing that most folks in the know will spot a mile off can be done, but it will be worth less then a standard series 2. You also aren't "beating" tax, as it would still have to be essentially a series 2 underneath to retain the ID - that means no coils...

They are all Oxfordshire, but guys I am not going to post exact locations on here in case they churned up by idiots who may read the forum. If you get a definitive map of Oxon there are only a handful of lanes and they are easy to find. Thanks.

No likely about it, it WILL need an SVA and WILL get a Q reg. You lose the point for the chassis as it is not to original spec, and likewise lose points for the suspension. The suspension mounts are part of the chassis, and as they are not as built... Legally you *might* get away with some kind...

The bit that goes up the side of the tub to clamp a wheel onto. I stupidly took mine off and passed it on years ago, but recently realised it was a correct fit on my vehicle, with a modded spare wheel well for the 900x16s. Anyway, so if anyone has one off a scrap tub I would be very grateful...

Never driven one in a 90, but it would score originality points if thats what you were after. Put some proper wheels on, a galv bumper and ditch the a bar and steps and you would have a nice motor. Maybe the day will come when coilers are resored like series motors are, but I think its a way off...

Not so, as most of them drive modded motors, tdis, parrotsbollocks etc, they aren't into mint condition motors. They do have one or two coil converted series trucks...I think the issue there is legality. They also have a tendancy to ban people without warning or reason. I could say more but this...

Yes, the early 90 and 110s did use the 2286 engine. Some 110s even had selectable 4x4 gearboxes and freewheeling front hubs!

This is one of the earliest 127s guys, some had square rear doors and some also had rear doors with no windows in. Most of what you see these days are badged as 130s (I think it changed when they were rebranded Defenders)
