SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

Here it is with a set of 569204s on that I had blasted and repainted for a series III rebuild. And here with its usual 569203 rims on. The difference is obvious, especially on the rear wheel if you compare the two photos.

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

They most certainly ARE the 569203 rims with the extra offset. Checked, checked and checked again. The inner section is flush with the raised section in the back. They are identical to the 569203 rims fitted to my mates 1-Ton. The only thing I can say further is they are not original to the...

SERIES 2B 1 Ton Wide Steel WS

I'm not convinced that is entirely accurate - NBK148G has never had 569204 rims on it in the time I have owned it!

    9.00 x 16 tyre search or equivilent!

There is a lo of variation in 900x16s, michelins are very tall, dunlops, avons and bargrips are not, and are not much taller than 235s.

    9.00 x 16 tyre search or equivilent!

I know of at least two otherwise bog standard series vehicles with 900x16s stuffed on them. Not what I would do but it has been done - apparently with success but I am sceptical. I would imagine they are too much for standard halfshafts anyway, especially the Rover axle on the back of a IIA...

    9.00 x 16 tyre search or equivilent!

Some will claim 900x16s will just bolt straight on - Landrover certainly didn't believe so. Have a look at www.onetonlandrover.co.uk/tech1 which shows how Landrover did it. Modifications were made to the suspension mounts, and to the chassis to allow for propshaft movement, all just to allow...

    9.00 x 16 tyre search or equivilent!

You will probably be better off fitting 235/85R16s, almost as tall as 900x16s, but radial and far more readily available in multiple patterns. I have a set on my 110. 900x16s now are just grossly overpriced rocking horse droppings unless money is no object or you are very, very lucky... You...

    08/09 Defender 90

I have a 110 bought new in 2011, and borrowed a demo 90 from my dealer earlier this year. No visibility issues with the 90 or the 110 to be honest. My 110 has done 34000 miles since it was new in May last year, no major issues, just a couple of paint blemishes and loose door handles on the front...

    1-Ton 109" in Chesterfield - genuine article

Fair play chap. I had to send an email to CALvin some time ago to put them straight on a few things re chassis numbers. I have a document here that I got from Gaydon which lists them all plus build figures, most interesting reading.

    1-Ton 109" in Chesterfield - genuine article

Excuse me? http://www.onetonlandrover.co.uk/chassis.html - I made that. I think you will find it most certainly IS a series III, the 266 chassis prefix is correct for a 1-Ton. Series IIA 229 - 2.6 Home Market RHD 170 built 222 - Export RHD 52 built 223 - Export LHD 64 built 224 - Completely...

    1-Ton 109" in Chesterfield - genuine article

Nothing to do with me but have been passed these details. Hi , Im Neill from Cavendish Motors in Chesterfield, i just bought a LR to scrap, when i first looked at it i spotted a few clues as to it might be a 1ton. When i got it back to my place and checked it is, Series3 chassis no 26600120B...

Are theese 88 or 109 wheels?

There should be no need whatsoever to fit parabolics to get a suspension lift to fit 205s - they are same diamater as 650s, so you will have a massive gap between the tyre and the body, which to me at least looks rather odd. 235s are slightly taller then 750s (I have 235s on my 110) but I agree...

Are theese 88 or 109 wheels?

I think its due to 600x16s not being very common, and people preferring radial tyres. Personally I think 205s look weird on a swb, as they are so wide but not very tall. 750s look okay on lwb rims, or the proper 600s on 5" rims, but thats just my preference.

Chuck them up here - 1-Tons, Fcs & 101s :: Index first, plenty of folks after them there.

Are theese 88 or 109 wheels?

The only thing I will say is that modern wide radial tyres should not be shoehorned onto 5" rims. Landrover always fitted 205s on 5.5" rims, as otherwise the sidewalls become pinched and they are not at 90 degrees to the road. Whilst many people say they run them like that without problems, it...
