    td5's odd noise

Might sound silly on the ticking issue, but check for things stuck round the wheels / pro shafts etc. It's amazing what clings on and whirls round! I had a mud flap caught on top of the rear wheel the other day which was doing my head in! Obviously easy to spot, but from experience it's not...

    Rotary oil filter

I think I read in the Haynes book of lies that it should be done every second oil change of something, but the the few quid that they cost and five minutes to change I do mine every time.

    td5 90 rear propshaft

You might struggle - they only get taken off when they break!

    Alternator Issues

Success! Cheers for your help on this one Shifty - I'll buy you a beer if I ever bump in to you! :D The bushes are quite worn but I was able to move the thing a little futher in and tighten the screws up. Everything got a really good clean, dry, and spray of WD40 for good measure. Reassembled...

    Alternator Issues

Scratch that last post - there are bushes on the second picture, right in the middle. I recon these are going to be the issue.....

    Alternator Issues

Yeah, there's usually a reason why somethings £5 and the next is £50... I don't believe in buying cheap crap! OK, anyway, alternator is out and was easy enough once I've removed the EGR jobby. Problem is, I can't get in to the sodding thing! I don't think I'm being lame here, but they...

    Alternator Issues

Nice one Shifty, ta you very much... :) I'll get the alternator out this morning, stick everything back together and then get a proper replacement kit ordered and do the job properly. Off to it then I guess...... :D

    Alternator Issues

So that's what's stopping it.... Damn thing! I've been meaning to get a blanking plate for a while! Am I likely to get hold of one on a Saturday morning? What do you mean by that? To stop it dribbling while I'm working on it? Or permanently? So that's where I've been...

    Alternator Issues

Took the fecker apart again this evening, and still no way out. Took some pics of it so you can all share my pain (and make suggestions to get it out!)

I'd like to agree, but unfortunately it went in the window instead! :D :D :D :D :D :D

    Alternator Issues

Aye, that's the fecker! So what does the oil feed do then, and could the fact I'm out of oil be causing my issues?

    Alternator Issues

I've annotated the picture, but there's a third pipe just out of view to the top left which is almost the same as the one on the right.

    Alternator Issues

*shrugs* Yeah, it's a TD5 but not sure what the 'oily pipe things' are! There are three though - one with a bolt with a hole in it, going to the vacuum pump thing, then two go off somewhere into the engine and are held on with some clips. I'll upload a pic in a minute if I can get it off my...

    Alternator Issues

Hi All, After my sunday morning abuse, I think my alternator is poorly. The battery light is on and it the battery went flat on me on Sunday (I lost all speed and fuel dials, indicators etc!). It's had a good charge and seems OK now. I reckon it just needs a good stip and clean, but that's...

Off Road Antics - Video at Parkwood 4x4

Yeah, it's a flying Landy! :D The trailing arm was slightly bent before and it got an advisory on the MOT. Was going to do it soon as well. Oh well, I have now! I had only just polybushed it so all my greased-up bolts came off no problem which was quite fortunate!

Good thinking batman - the wheel was safely out of harm's way and the spare was sat comfortably in the back. Do'h! And here's me trying to swap my face for an axle!

Nooooooo... I had all three wheels chocked, you just can't quite see from the picture... I'm not that daft! :D I minimised time under it and gave it a bloody good wobble before I went near it!

I'll have to give you a camp wave next time! :D It was a good day, although cut short by a slightly bent trailing arm! Fortunately a mate lives about 5 minutes away so brought me a spare, but the flat battery meant no more playing for me.
