    Tow bar for home fitting??

The One I have needed about 6mm filing out and even then one end was going to have a pretty big gap, I set the torque wrench to the 69 NM required and it clicked before the gap was closed up, I could still get a full set of feeler guages into the gap, I don't rate that as a few mm out of...

    Tow bar for home fitting??

According to the destructons with it, it's supposed to fit with the towing eye in place, but it's out of line when usinng the other side as a datum anyway. I tried to fit it from three starting points, both with and without the towing eye on the vehicle (it's a b1tch to get on and off with the...

    Tow bar for home fitting??

OK, I just wasted the morning trying to fit a Bosal tow bar to the wife's Freebie, the bolts for the cross beam didn't line up, they were out by a good 5mm and I'm not about to grind that much metal off of a towbar, so it's going back on Monday. I'd never heard of the make before, but the eBay...

    02 Td4 Nightmare

One possibility missed from that is the MAF sensor, if the injector leak back test doesn't give you a clue disconnect the MAF (under the engine cover). Crank shaft sensor is another occasional starting fault, but you should have an engine warning light (not airbag) for the crankshaft sensor...

    Haynes v Rave Brake Piston

Many years ago I was told to release the bleed nipple when pushing the pistons back as it saved the master cylinder seals, as a young bod I accepted this and for a couple of years got brake fluid all over various things for a wide rangge of reasons.... Then I was advised to just push them...

Removal of entire VCU and prop assembly

Take a look at Hippo's excellent How To on VCU bearing change for a clear guide on how to take the prop shafts and VCU off without damaging anything :D

    tuning box

Doing well then :) Considering the fact that the MAF is effectively a wear part it will fail at some point, as such having a tuning box that allows the fitment of a cheaper and slightly more reliable part, over one that doesn't, is a plus to me :)

    Supercharged 200tdi

The freebie is the wife's :) Didn't buy the thing, but it's got me thinking now. The motorbike I'm rebuilding is about finished, just needs tyres when the cash is there and it's ready to go out and play. Once that's done I'll need, I mean really NEED, a new project, summat to stop me gettin...

Army Land Rover Wolf will not go above 50MPH

It looks like he's been scared off :) Question is, was it Fanny or 110 Woman who scared him? :D Second question is, if he was scared off, what happened to the British Army's fighting spirit?? Did HM Govt pawn that as well? :( As to the Landy, in my amateur opinion, it's fecked, only...

    Well I never..

That does not sound like a normal land rover engine to me..... That GSD must be wondering if car rides are really all that much fun after all :D

    tuning box

I don't think the two are the same box, if you want a tuning box look into the Synergy, it not only offers different power maps for the engine, it offers a MAF compensator which is very VERY useful on the BMW M47 engine as the standard MAF is very expensive and will fail at some point, anywhere...

    2005 td4 wont start

I dont think you should get any diesel out of the pipe just by turning the ignition on, the HP pump is engine driven (as posted by one of the clever bods above), try putting the pipe into an empty bottle and spinning the engine over, that should see some diesel in the bottle as the HP pump will...

    2005 td4 wont start

Second to that, leak back test = free and reasonably quick, can of freeze spray is about a fiver. From memory I paid about £38 quid for my cam shaft sensor from Rimmer's, that's delivered. The freeze spray could be useful for other things as well ;)

    V6 byeeeeee

The best engine in the Freebie by far :) You know about MAF, EGR, Crankshaft sensors, turbos hoses, injectors, leak back tests, HP pumps, LP pumps, etc don't you ;) :) If not, all the information you need is on here and all of that is owner fixable with the support on here :)

    2005 td4 wont start

This link is to a How to for the leak back test on a Rover 75, it's the same M47R BMW diesel engine, so apart from access beinng easier in a Freebie (we have one of each) the process is the same :)
