Thank You. My MAF is marginal, so the synergy has been keepinng it legit on emissions, my plan is to get a pierburgh, but if the rules had meant that the synergy would not be allowed I'd have had to get a bosch one, loads more money :)

Another vote for the Parrot jobbie, the wife has had a couple of these now and they work with her phone, or mine when we are both in the car, very nice. Halfords will sell you the 9000 type for £125 ish fitted if you aren't techy

Well, the wife had the new tyres fitted today, no more judder, no more odd noise, brilliant :) Just got to get used to the other, lesser, odd noises that we can now hear with the radio off :(

The synergy will come with nice clear fitting instructions, it's really very simple, so simple it took me about 45 minutes to fit mine to my Rover 75, because I double and triple checked everything looking for the mistake I'd made :o :)

My best guess on the commercial vehicles question is that they don't have that big an alternator, the engine is there to provide motive force, not generate leccy. A gennie just drives the coils round to make leccy for you, it does it quite economically, using a big motive power engine to do...

So, how do we explain this to the MOT station, or will the test script they get for each model of car tell them about it?

Personal experience has shown me that paraffin or plusgas work much better than WD40, I've also learnt to use blu tak to form a funnel above the point it's needed so I don't have to keep topping it up over night ;) :) It's also taught me that sometimes it takes a ruddy big hammer and chisel...

Does the new house have somewhere to work on the car? Personal experience tells me it probably will have, and if it has the car wont need any work doing to it once you've finished the move ;) !!

As the Castrol alternate the guy is suggesting is an equivalent to N402, and costs 3.98 USD, as against 40+ Canadian I thought you might be interested in the stuff..

PlusGas would do better, it's a lighter oil, much better at penetrating those truly manky threads :) I keep a tin of PlusGas handy next to my sockets :) WD40 is OK, but it's primarily for shiftingn water, preventing rust and light lubrication duties. Parafin is another excellent...
