    P38A Phantom gearbox/alternator/EAS fault

Hey Folks, So I’ve had a recurring fault on my 2001 P38 Westminster with the 2.5 Diesel engine (autobox). The fault had been occurring about once every 2 months until recently when it has started happening almost daily. Essentially what happens is that any time up to 20mins from startup...

    P38A LR Key Supply Issues

Thanks very much guys, I followed your advice and used a little graphite powder which worked a treat. Though this was not before I managed to slice my finger open with the new key (I guess thats why they call it a key "blade"). Next problem on the list is the RF receiver. I'm struggling to get...

    P38A LR Key Supply Issues

Update. Got a call from Land Rover Customer Relations today to advise that the key has arrived at the dealership at long last. Took a quick drive round to pick up the key and all seems to be well. My car is a 2001 MY and seems to have easy sync so it was a breeze to get the key talking to the...

    P38A LR Key Supply Issues

It's funny you should say that, the parts guy at my dealer mentioned that they were shipping the keys across to the States for a while last year but believed that they're now back to being done in the UK (or wherever they're normally done). Sandy

    P38A LR Key Supply Issues

MrGorsky, I paid £138 per key with a little discount for buying a couple (and because my family have been using the same dealer for years). Sandy

    P38A LR Key Supply Issues

Hi folks, Just a quick one. Since buying my P38 I've been having to use the EKA code to access the vehicle (the original owner butchered the circuit board somehow whilst attempting to replace the fob battery). The fear of being locked out and embarrassment of looking like I'm trying to jimmy...

    P38A Leaning when parked

Hi all! Sorry for the slow update to this thread. Would you believe me if I said it was an oil cooler pipe that had caused the lean on Wes? One of the pipes between the oil filter housing and oil cooler had started leaking, the oil slowly started to creep down the chassis leg and eventually...

    P38A Leaning when parked

Thanks very much chaps. Will get Wes hooked up to Lynx today and will report back with the outcome (and potentially some screenshots etc). I had begun to rule out leaking bags as he'll sit very happily at normal or extended ride profile for well over a week providing there wasn't a lean to the...

    P38A Leaning when parked

Hi Guys, Got a slight problem with my 2001 P38 Westminster's EAS. All is well whilst driving other than a slight lean to the left (potentially a bad ride height sensor or bad calibration?). It's when I park up and leave the vehicle that the problem truly presents itself. If parked on land...

    Hello from Wes (and Alex)

Thanks very much, not without his flaws (currently need to use the EKA every time as the key disintegrated in my hand), but it's nice to have all the top spec toys. Yeah the third photo was taken at the Inveruglas visitors café on Loch Lomond and the first couple are up the Glen Etive road...

    Hello from Wes (and Alex)

Hello from a rather snowy Glasgow, My name is Alex. I'm no stranger to Land Rovers, having grown up around them you'd have thought that numerous experiences of being taken home in an AA truck rather than Dad's shiny new Range Rover would teach you that the green oval is not synonymous with...

    Classic Won't Start

SHE STARTS! Now this is embarrassing... It would seem that whilst throwing out old garbage from inside the range rover I binned what I thought was a tacky old keyring. It turns out that this crummy looking bit of black plastic is infact a transponder for the car's aftermarket immobiliser...

    Classic Won't Start

Starting to suspect this toad alarm to be the cause of the issues. Ideally I'd like to rip the whole system out as the factory alarm/immobiliser are still there (just not connected). Though I'm sure I'll experience untold misery if I start mucking around with this toad thing...

    Classic Won't Start

Hey lorri, stripped out part of the dashboard, looks like she's got an aftermarket toad alarm... joys... Battery is in good condition and producing a good voltage, the central locking sounds very good too. I've found a few disconnected cables under here though so I'm going to have a search and...

    Classic Won't Start

Okay, so I've checked the wires to the starter motor/solenoid and all looks good there, I've cleaned the contacts and tightened the nuts. Does anybody know what the starter is earthed by as I can't see anything to suggest it's connected to an earth strap. Still no joy on the instruments and it...

    Classic Won't Start

I'll definitely give those suggestions a try in the morning, just a bit confused as to why the instrument lights and ABs pump aren't coming on. The alarm/immobiliser light keeps flashing when I turn the ignition (it would normally extinguish) so perhaps that's also linked to the problem...

    Classic Won't Start

I've been over all the fuses and everything looks good. I'll have a look at the gearbox inhibitor just now. Starting to suspect it may be ignition switch related as this would be linked to instrument cluster?..

    Classic Won't Start

Hi Guys, Fancied taking the Range Rover out for a run today but she's decided that she would rather not... Here's the symptoms: • Turn ignition on and none of the instruments light up (though the turn signal light works). • ABS pump doesn't come on like it normally would. • I can hear...

    Breaking range rover classic

Is it a 4 door? If so I'd be interested in the boot floor (if it ain't looking like swiss cheese)... Oh, and the front valance with fogs if it's in alright nick.

    Fuel Tank Recall

It's interesting that they've recalled something so big on such old cars (and twenty one thousand of them!) It would be really interesting to hear if anyone has had this recall done and how their dealer was with freeing the old tank from fragile and rusty brackets.
