agree with tottot drop the trans fer box out of lock and get a freind to lay on the floor and watch the prop shafts and see whitch one spins thet gives you the axel then time to get stripping. then worry about the transferbox, maybe drop the oil to see if you have big fhunks of metal its time...

Sounds like the alternator was working as a motor?? If it was making noise when off! I had a Brit part one do the same it was brand new and it hummed when off and drained my battery flat it took a few days to understand what was going wrong. See if you can get it tested or something
