Ring gap, new rings? Or new pistons?

Hello all, I am redoing this 2.25 petrol, and I find that the piston rings are probably very worn out. Can someone tell me according to these pictures if new rings are needed; or a complete new piston? Thanks! Personally i think new rings, since on the piston themselves they have a gap too...

Rebuild dual line brake master cylinder

I checked scots classic car spares, but they dont have what i need. Also, the rebuild kit from paddock only comes with two rubber seals. Are there not more inside the unit itsself? i took the old one apart but cannot get the plunger out to check. In other words, is the paddock spares kit...

Rebuild dual line brake master cylinder

Hi all, checked the shoe adjustment; which was not it. the problem got worse overtime, and suddenly i could clearly hear fluid gushing through seals when i pressed the pedal. So, master brake cylinder. I have a 109 dual line system. Where one fitting is larger than the other. See photo. I am...

Rebuild dual line brake master cylinder

Hi all, I have a weird brake issue. Brakes worked fine for atleast half a year. Suddenly, the pressure is inconsistent. Hard, then i drive a minute without having to brake; soft as a napkin. can pump them up again to come to a standstill. Someone able to explain this inconsistenty to a certain...

    2,5 NA to 2,25 Petrol

i managed to get a good look at then engine mounts, which seem to be the same ones which are on your galvanized chassis. Aka "original". Right? Here some pics the right hand side mount (right side is when you stand in front of the bonnet) when looked at from the bottom though, it looks...

Hi i have this distributor from my petrol block, but i cant seem to find spare/fresh parts for it on the internet. Is this a 24V distributor? If so, can i plop in a generic 12V one? I have no use for 24V.

Dang it... I do see that yes. That looks hard to reverse back to the proper mount once its welded on like that!

    2.25 petrol ignition timing

some heads it should be stamped on, i believe if one of the head bolt seats is raised; this indicates the possibility of it being an 8:1. However i would use google to find the specific teltale signs, or wait on another member with more experience than me...

    2.25 petrol ignition timing

While you might be correct on the engine coming originally with an 8:1 head, it might be that the head that is currently on it aint a 8:1 head. Worth checking that, if it is a 7:1; that might explain your timing. Otherwise, overtime the engine couldve been worn that much, the previous owner...

    2,5 NA to 2,25 Petrol

Ah ok, great thanks for that input. Ill check, and probably in the near future posts some pictures of how that movement has been created in my engine well. I have no clue as of now xD I also figured 125 pounds for the engine was dirt cheap, thats why i also immideately took the gearbox off of...

    2,5 NA to 2,25 Petrol

thanks for your input! Ill consider the crank, because its on the fence of feelable. Especially since the bearing shells show little wear; im hesitant of letting it be resurfaced. As for the mounts: I sure hope theyre not welded on!!!!!! I havent checked tbh... i DID get the supposed correct...

    2,5 NA to 2,25 Petrol

So update on the crankshaft, i seem to remember i saw a very distinct groove yesterday. This groove today seemed a lot less significant. However i could still feel it. is this a reason to move up in bearing shell size? I read the measurements of mine, they are still the rover STD ones. Which i...

    2,5 NA to 2,25 Petrol

As some of you have kindly helped me out on previous other rather scattered posts of mine, I figured it was only wise to maybe make a more "general" post of the stuff I am trying to do. Not only since it gives other members something to "follow" if they like, but also to contain posts and not...
