    Engine oil

I ran our golf TDi PD with what ever i could find in the back of the garage and didnt have any probs for over 50K miles (25L of oil for the TD5 = £30, 5lt of oil for the golf = £55:eek:). I agree with Charles as I know someone who ran their 96 disco V8 including all box/diff oils on JCB oils...

    Sensors and all that stuff!

Now all us TD5 owners have our own special place on the forum, i've had a thought! With many TD5 owners now having diag equip (nanocom etc) is it worth trying to put together a list of what the ECU sensor's normal operating figures are? ie the ambient air pressure sensor on mine gives a...

    wastegate rod

my disco is down on power and is shuddering under acceleration. I'm thinking seized wastegate? (no faults stored in the ECU) How "free" should the movement be on it? I tried to move it earlier with some mole grips and it took a lot of force to get it to budge. Is it also possible to run the...

    Gut Less TD5 Auto

that looks like a casting mark to me. To see if the mounts are stuffed, view them from under the disco. there is an approx 10mm dia hole in the bottom of each one. if the rubber insert is near or touching the bottom of the metal housing (normally in excess of 10mm between the two parts) it's...

Chip or Remap ? what is the best option.

Pre-2002 can have the chip changed which can have improved maps loaded on to them. I would got for a remap every time over a 'tuning box/chip' as the upgrade is specific to the vehicle/driver. I used J Fearn to do mine (was set up on a rolling road too). not the cheapest about but he's only...

    TD5 injector fault codes

Hi all, My disco has been running a bit roughly recently so dug out the nanocom and got faults on injectors 2,4 & 5 saying open curcuit (current). The loom was replaced about a year ago. Is it possible for oil to bugger it up so soon?

    2001 TD5 Auto

This rumble is the same as i've been suffering for the last 2 years! search on the net will show it's quite a common problem on the TD5 Auto. I've tried changing loads of parts to try and cure but no luck. A few people on the Australian Land Rover Forum have found changing the drivers side...
