I would flush the coolant system properly replace the antifreeze. Also check the rad itself is not blocked with crud. Sounds like it just is not quite getting enough cooling power.

I fitted a discovery on a mates trailer which is the same width but 16' long i think this LM146 is 14'. It towed lovely and is well within weights etc.

While underneath it you may as well changed the oil in the transfer box and diffs as well. As if the oil what comes out is old and causing you the issue chances are the others havent been changed in a while either. MTF94 for gearbox and EP90 in the diffs.

I would flush the gearbox and replace the oil to start with.
