    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Just a thought: When I was going for the crank sensor, at first I thought my best way in was from above past the fuel pressure regulator. I detached the fuel feed and return lines and the pressure sensor and I am beginning to wonder if I changed something when I reattached the lines. I will...

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Possibly airlocked - tomorrow will tell. Oddly enough, if Daisy sparks up like a good 'un that makes things more difficult, the drive from Sydney to Canberra is all motorway but a lot of it is in the back of beyond.

Disco 2 Top Radiator hose exploded

I had a similar experience. After changing the radiator the top hose connection blew off a week later. I might have made a mistake in reconnecting it but why did it last a week? Long short cut short, I changed the radiator cap for a new OEM one from a dealer and the problem (which included...

Disco 2 driver side passenger door not unlocking on central locking

It is possible to repair the lock but a fiddly job. There are 2 x 12 volt motors in the lock, one to lock it and one to unlock it. The lock fails because the non-servicable brushes on the motors wear out. They are similar in appearance to Scalextric motors and are made by a firm called...

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

I think there may have been a bit of progress but I am not sure... Having changed the crank case sensor without effect, I changed the air bleed valve and fitted a non return valve on the fuel filter. I already had them and there seemed nothing to lose by fitting them. Still no change and by...

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Hi Mark I think it will soon be time for me to man up and get a Hawkeye and learn to use it

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Still not obvious. She spins like a hotpoint on fast cycle (and the timing chain ain't broke) and the volts are well above 10.5. or at least were until I flattened the battery getting her back into the garage on the starter motor.

    and Daisy STILL won't start!

Still not starting. Daisy is an April 2004 D2 TD5 enjoying a second career after emigrating from the UK to Australia. She has developed a fault where, without warning, she loses all power. Severe cranking of the engine usually persuades her back into life but that life lasts anything between...

How to change the crank case sensor on a D2 TD5.

Dear All I have just changed Daisy's crankcase sensor (which didn't fix the problem) and thought a 'how to' write up was in order: And if you follow these hints you do so at your own risk! The good news: Only one tool required No need to jack up the car I disconnected all the Fuel Pressure...

    Daisy STILL won't go!

Still not starting. Dear Landy Zoners, I have now carried out the following Maintops on Daisy (2004 TD5); she still doesn't want to start and then she cuts out: 1. New fuel pump 2. New fuel filter 3. New air bleed and non return valves at the fuel filter 4. New crankcase sensor 5. Cleaned...

    Daisy STILL won't go!

Hi MarkoMate2 Once Daisy sparks up I will post a conclusion. One of the issues with maintaining our own cars of that we often gain experience with a particular job that we are unlikely to need any time soon but that someone else is desperate for. I have benefitted many times from such wisdom...

    Daisy STILL won't go!

Hi BioLandy There is no such thing a stating the obvious. Many years ago I was about to strip the diff on my MGBGT because of a clonk if engaging 1st when still drifting backwards. A mate turned up just in time and asked what was in the boot. 'Nothing much, just the spare wheel and a trolley...

The tank is about 80% full. I vented it by removing the filler cap. Still nothing.

    Daisy STILL won't go!

Mark, That stuck with me too. I redid the red ECU yesterday and it made no difference so unless I missed the same thing twice I think that may be a red (geddit?) herring

I think I can rule out the MAF. I just tried starting her - nothing - disconnected the MAF - still nothing - reconnected it - still nothing.

Okay.... Daisy is an April 2004 D2 TD5 enjoying a second career after emigrating from the UK to Australia. She has developed a fault where, without warning, she loses all power. Severe cranking of the engine usually persuades her back into life but that life lasts anything between 500 yds and...

    Daisy doesn't want to start.

Henrytd5 - I looked at the red ecu plug and it was dripping with oil. I cleaned it all out and she hasn't missed a beat since - touch wood we've nailed it.

    Daisy doesn't want to start.

HenryTd5, yes the engine was spinning over very freely when she refused to start on the motorway. In fact the mechanic suspected a snapped cam belt until I said that the Td5 has a timing chain. She threw another wobbly this morning. On the way to work she suddenly would not accelerate but was...

    Daisy doesn't want to start.

Daisy is a 2004 TD5 Landmark Manual with 166000 miles on her clock. In recent weeks she has shown her first ever reluctance to start. The trick seems to be to leave the ignition on for about 20 secs then churn the engine for up to about 10 secs and she will fire. There seems to be more noise...
