    Disco 1 Gear woes....

The clutch actuating arm on the Disco 1 has a design flaw which means it won't last for 2 clutches. If your clutch was changed and it wasn't that could be the problem. It happened on my 200Tdi years ago. Removing the gearbox to change the clutch is not difficult but it is a lot of work and...

Disco 2 Gear & Handbrake gaiters

I got leather ones from ebay cheap as chips, much better than the shabby originals and easy to fit as long as you take your time with the glueing.

Disco 2 Maintenance to consider over 100k

Injector seals. I have just been forced into changing mine and it not only fixed the breakdowns, it restored performance I did not know I had lost. You only need 8mm, 10mm, 1/2inch sockets, the 'special tools' to lock the cam gear and remove the injectors and you are away.

D2 Cutting out and starting issues

Hi LJG1984, I have recently struggled with the same issues which culminated in a heroic 12 hour drive from Sydney to Canberra that normally takes 3 hrs. BLUF (Bottom line up front), look up my post 'Daisy is FIXED' and it would bet on it being your injector seals. Discovery2.co.uk shows how it...

Disco 2 2004 disco. td5 power loss and misfire on start sometimes.

Look up my thread 'Daisy is fixed'. This fault has multiple potential causes but injector seals is the most likely culprit. Look up Discovery2.co.uk for an excellent write up on how to to do it.

    Disco 2 Bag or Coil?

If you have air, stick with it. Dunlop sell compatible springs a lot cheaper than Land Rover. Changing air springs is very straightforward and a lot easier than with coils (for one thing, you deflate them instead of compressing them). Finally, the type approval for a 7 seat Disco requires air...

    Disco 2 2004 Disco with 195000 miles

Our Daisy is a 2004 TD5 model at 180K miles. We've owned her since 2007/25k miles. Major work done so far: new rear diff, brake discs, brake pads (twice), radiator, gearbox & clutch, rear air springs (twice), shocks, radiator, steering box, starter motor, windscreen, injector harness and...

    Disco 2 oil change

Grab the Haynes Manual. There are 2 circular access panels in the plastic undertray that you need to remove to get to the coolant and sum drain plugs.

    Daisy is fixed! (Injector seals)

The 2 cars I miss are my '73 MGBGT and my first Land Rover, an '83 Series III. Both were stacks of fun to drive in their different ways, both demanded lots of attention and both were relatively easy to maintain. If I won the lottery the cars I would buy would be the latest Disco and an MG LE50...

    Daisy is fixed! (Injector seals)

Hi Mark I'm waiting for the next breakdown but I have a sneaking suspicion that Daisy will hold that back until just after I replace the suspension bushes (the next job on my list). Why is it that we treat our Land Rovers with such affection? Even when they throw the most annoying wobblies...

    Daisy is fixed! (Injector seals)

Hi Mark - I really regret changing the fuel pump. The one I fitted is aftermarket and a lot noisier than the original. I will watch it very carefully just in case pumping all that bubbly diesel has caused cavitation damage and will use that as an excuse to revert to OEM if I can. David

    Daisy is fixed! (Injector seals)

That same thought occurred to me at about the point I was grappling with the side trim. If I have to change the pump again I will be using a Stanley knife. There is a special tool to deal with the locking ring. The usual suppliers should have it, if not try dingocroft. Oh, and if anyone...

    Daisy is fixed! (Injector seals)

After months of Daisy (D2 TD5) throwing wobblies and randomly breaking down and being an absolute s0d to restart, I have finally fixed the problem. I took the very long way round the issue and learned a few lessons: - It's probably not the fuel pump, it's the most expensive part and a job to...

    TD5 Injectors - Cleaning

I am about to whip out Daisy's injectors to change the seals (I've got the special tool too!). While they are out, how do you clean them?

    D2 oil service

I have been servicing my D2 TD5 myself every 10,000km (6,000miles) since 2009. We bought her at 24,000 miles/3 years old and she is now at 180,000 miles/12 years old. To be fair Daisy is beginning to show her age (new rear diff, radiator, starter, fuel pressure regulator, steering box and...

Hi Yorkie Did you need the special tool to lift out the injectors or is there a safe workaround? David

Disco 2 Starting problems and cutting out

Hi Raywin The pump was clean as a whistle when it came out. The only time it ever made any audible noise was on repriming the system after a fuel filter change. Now I have a constant whining coming from under the boot floor. I share your view that a lot of perfectly good pumps are being...

Disco 2 Starting problems and cutting out

Hi Hipwell, I'm in the same world of pain with my Disco and it is driving me crackers. Have a search for threads with the word 'Daisy' in them and you will get the back story. The short version: I have: Changed the fuel pump - this was my first move and a conclusion I wish I had not jumped...

Disco 2 Not happy - not happy at all!

Do not, under any circumstances, go to discovery2.co.uk . It is an excellent website with pictorial 'how to-s' on all the common faults. The only snag is that your Disco will know that you have been to the site and will also know which maintenance articles are on the site. She will then begin...

Disco 2 Facelift light - removal of plastic light lens

I'm also curious how to get the plastic lenses off. I tried a while back but sensed it was all going to end in tears and backed off. In the meantime, milky lenses are a common problem out here in Australia with all the UV. I would say that if the insides of your lights are OK then leave well...
