    Axel oil pressure

Ok so I had a Leak on the rear diff pinion seal. Figured it was the breather, but I was able to blow down the pipe and hole into the axel was clear. But then the leak stopped. For a while. Then one day boom, oil ejected out of the seal in every direction. So, I changed the pinion seal. All...

    Windscreen Wiper Speeds

Agreed - I've now added this to my ever-growing to-do list as part of the restoration project.

    Windscreen Wiper Speeds

Cool, I did suspect that might be the case, but it's hard to tell with a landy - one minute you're marvelling in the genius of a design feature on it that seems way ahead of its time, and the next you find something that just doesn't seem like much though went into it at all lol.

    Windscreen Wiper Speeds

I think my wiper stalk is faulty, this is my first Landy (1987 90) so I have no point of reference, but it seems a bit odd. I'm replacing the indicator stalk at the moment for a different fault, so it seems like a good time to replace the wiper stalk too if this is indeed also a fault with that...

    Rear pinion oil seal stuck

Hi all, quite a simple one, I'm changing the oil seal on the rear diff - as what started as a leak, turned into a full on spray of oil over the underside last time I took it out. On the plus side - it now has a nice protective coating over everything under there! Anyway, prop undone, split pin...

Rear Prop Removal on a slope

    Ah ok, thanks!

Rear Prop Removal on a slope

Agreed, but it gives me a little more space to work in (under) - or is there an actual reason why I shouldn't?

Rear Prop Removal on a slope

My driveway is sloped, I need to take the rear prop off to change the rear diff oil seal. Is my understanding correct that the hand break drum works on the rear prop? So if I remove the prop, or lift the back wheels, the beast is going to start rolling? If so, what are my options? Will locking...

looks that way doesn't it. :(

    Turbo business

Sadly I already did this last week :(

    Turbo business

Yeah unfortunately this is the latter I think - I cleaned out the intercooler and inlet etc. last week, replaced the manifold gasket, and all of that business - then, on first start up all seemed fine, left it idling for a while - noticing that there was a bit more smoke than usual from the...

    Turbo business

Agreed, and a new pipe is arriving this morning. But I fear that had I of not had a hole, I wouldn't have noticed the oil leak, and even more oI'll would be building up in there unknown to me. There's zero play in the turbo by the way. I'm not ruling out the turbo but I want to eliminate...

    Turbo business

Yes that's where the oil is. Lots of it builds up in the duct from air filter to turbo. But not always. For example I went for a drive yesterday, about a 20 minute drive, and when I stopped, it had lots of oil in there. Then about an hour later I cleaned it out and I went for another drive for...

    Turbo business

So, just coming back to this, as I've been away for work - no blockages in the pipes coming out of the cyclone breather. Replaced cyclone breather itself to be sure. Still lots of oil sitting in the intake pipe between air filter and turbo. There's actually a small hole in the pipe, causing a...

Ex mod 300tdi conversion fitting a snorkel

Aha, how on earth did I miss that?! I only need the mount as I've already gathered everything else together to finish this and have been trying to fashion a mount myself - I'll contact Steve Parkers to see if they will sell me the mount on its own without the whole kit. Cheers!

Ex mod 300tdi conversion fitting a snorkel

Ok, I'm either being blind, or it's no longer on their website - I can't find the kit you've used on there. Any chance you've got a direct link to the exact kit handy?

Ex mod 300tdi conversion fitting a snorkel

Excellent thanks! Oh I know, it already did cause trouble, the cyclone breather system clogged up, oil started going each way and everywhere - I found what must have been pints of oil in the intercooler. This poor old girl has had 14 previous owners, and it would seem I'm the first person in a...

Ex mod 300tdi conversion fitting a snorkel

Don't be afraid to cut a hole in your wing to fit a snorkel - that's what the PO of my 87 90 did while fitting a 300tdi They didn't however fit any kind of air filter so the intake feed is currently direct from the snorkel into the turbo - something I'm currently rectifying. How you have that...

    Passenger Door Lock Problem

The root cause of this issue can be traced to a fault in your female unit - recommended resolutions include trading her in for a younger model, or attempting to fix the issue with bribery such as mentioned above, with flowers or other gifts. No idea about your problem with the door lock though.
