    IRD mount

Our Td4 auto had a clunk from the front when you'd pull away from a standing start like taking up drive. I changed the lower gearbox/engine stabiliser mount as the largest bush of the two in the old mount was goosed. It's now pretty smooth when pulling away and through the gears and no...

    Our project Td4

For a couple of weeks I'd noticed a knocking noise that was gradually getting worse from the O/S front suspension, quick diagnosis and it was found to be worn ball joint on the anti-rollbar stabiliser bar. Also had a clunk from up front when pulling out of junctions, as if the engine was moving...

    Heeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!

Some engines don't like oil flush and can cause things like the bearings to fail, maybe the K series is one of those?

    Heeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!

If the oil light is flashing on and off at times, then surely that's the signs of low oil pressure.

    Heeeeeeeeeeeelllllllllllppppppppppppppppppp!!!!!!!

Its hard to diagnose things like this over the Internet without hearing it. If its knocking under load or as soon as you rev it, then it could be the big end bearings.

    D Lander on eBay

Spotted this on eBay, not really a Freelander but looks a right bit of kit all the same. LAND ROVER - NORTH D-LANDER - OFF ROAD CHALLENGE/EXTREME (NOT TOMCAT BOWLER) | eBay

    Other Hi from RSA

Lammie81 Welcome to the forum. We imported a 1969 VW micro bus from your neck of the woods some ten years ago, it still rust free to this present day and what an investment it's been. Good luck with the Freelander.

Do all Freelanders have a FBH?

Our Feb 2001 Td4 has one fitted but it doesn't fire up properly, could be a faulty pump.

Anybody interested in a batch of smaller more compact back boxes...?

Yes same here they look great, just wish the old pennies weren't as tight as what they are at the moment.

    Our project Td4

Next on the Freelander is to sort out the bumpers and arches after the previous owner made a mess of them with a heat gun! Thoughts are is to either replace the lot, or a cheaper option maybe is to paint them satin black, either way I've got to get it sorted this summer as it looks terrible.

    Our project Td4

Yes we couldn't split the VCU from the props, so ended up taking the propshafts to an engineering company who do transmissions and props etc which they removed the VCU with a little help from some heat, once removed they checked the UJ's on the props which were all ok, cost me £40 but thought it...

    Our project Td4

A little update. Finally got my new GKN VCU and support bearings fitted. Can't say I noticed much difference in driving or reversing into the drive, but then again I have been running it with out the prop on for 2-3 months so I got used to its smoothness, one thing I'd notice on my way home...

Any photos of the low profile rear box fitted to compare against a standard OEM part. Cheers.

    Bye bye grey trim!

Hi What was the outcome using the forever black dye kit? My bumpers and wheel arches have been heat gunned by the previous owner and now look terrible, so was wondering if the forever black dye kit works before I go down the route of having all the external trim painted or replaced.

    Removing VCU from drive shaft

I've just had a similar problem last week, couldn't remove either propshafts. In the end I had to take it to a propshaft reconditioning place and it took them over an hour to get the props off the VCU as they were seized solid. Hopefully get my new VCU and props fitted tomorrow.

    MOT day

Yep I know what ya mean, I hate MOT time, (between me and the otherhalf we have 5 cars) its thought of someone looking over ya car and finding a fault that you've missed, but at the end of the day the law says it has to be done to make sure its road worthy and legal etc. Good luck and I hope...

    TD4 Poor handbrake

Mine hand brake was the same, do whats already been said, but also when you've got the brake shoes etc stripped out, just make sure that hand brake cable isn't seize or stiff. My drivers side O/S hand brake cable was seize so I sprayed plenty of WD40 into the end of it, then kept working it and...
