    Knocking from front

I don't think she's that interested in driving it, I have just bought her a BMW X5 4.6is, 347bhp, 0-60 in 6 secs!:D and runs on lpg! (with 15mpg I'm really glad it does run lpg!) And if I'm a good boy she sometimes let me drive it!

    Knocking from front

I used a car body porta-pac to lift the engine about 3", and then simply un-bolted the old and replaced with the new. I took my time doing it and to be honest it was quite easy other than the nearside engine mount was difficult to get a spanner on the top nut (disco 200tdi engine) but once I had...

    Knocking from front

The wife used my Landy on monday and reported hearing a knocking noise coming from the front, so I had a quick poke around it and to my supprise found that the o/s engine mounting rubber had sheared through and the engine had dropped down by about 2", oh dear! I went on ebay and bought all...

    Determine suspension lift

I have had a 2" suspension lift for about a year now, the only reason to fit 3 degree radius arms would be to correct the steering geometery (steering self centre) and make it a little less twitchy, but fitting the radius arms alters the prop angle, so then you would need to fit a wide angle...

Khaos, I live in Rotherham and the 2 places that we use (myself and my mate in his toyota surf) are Kirton Off Road Centre and Frickley 4x4, Frickley being the closest to us. Kirton is mega as anyone on here will tell you, Frickley is not too bad for getting out for a few hours and it's open...

    Straight through

KHAOS, try Hawleys tyres and exhausts at Halfway, Sheffield. They can make you a custom stainless one, my mate works there and did mine for me, mine exits above the chassis and out through the rear 1/4 panel.

Well looks like you have us all stumped there mate! why the hell are defenders so bloody expensive???? Help! First time buyer, overwhelmed by buying guides!

One thing to look out for, as many will tell you, when going for a Disco is the rot on the boot floor (lift the boot carpet to check) and inner/outer sills and rear wheel arches inside of the door shuts, plenty of info on here. Good luck.

Help! First time buyer, overwhelmed by buying guides!

I'll second the disco, going from a mondeo family car to a defender will have you pulling your hair out within days! they're cold in winter (VERY) quite noisey (you can't really hear the radio) and not to brilliant on fuel ( being as aerodynamic as a house side), but sa soon as you show a...

i wish my landy was that big!!!

why not just lift the body 2", that way you won't need expensive props & radius arms ect. You should be able to get body lift spacers for less than £100.

Well i've just finished fitting a pair of Defender TD5 axles to my 90, whilst I was finishing things off and atatching the props I found an alarming amount of free play/backlash in my transfer box! so today I decided to take the inspection plate off the underside of the box and have a nosey...

    Changing a pair of axles

I'm going to change my axles in the next day or two, I've managed to drop on a pair of low mileage td5 axles from a defender 90.
