The wife used my Landy on monday and reported hearing a knocking noise coming from the front, so I had a quick poke around it and to my supprise found that the o/s engine mounting rubber had sheared through and the engine had dropped down by about 2", oh dear! I went on ebay and bought all 4 mounting rubbers (the gearbox mounts are the same as the engine ones). Well I have just spent 2/3 hours changing them all and found that 3 out of the 4 of them had split, leaving the engine and gearbox loose and floating around:eek: As well as this I found a bolt missing out of the exhaust to turbo mounting and the other 2 loose:doh:. Tightend every thing up and had a good poke around, now everything is as tight as a drum:cool:. The only thing now is that the engine mounts feel too stiff and you can 'feel' the engine running. I'm sure it will soon bed itself in and and feel a bit smoother. All in all a good productive morning!:D

I used a car body porta-pac to lift the engine about 3", and then simply un-bolted the old and replaced with the new. I took my time doing it and to be honest it was quite easy other than the nearside engine mount was difficult to get a spanner on the top nut (disco 200tdi engine) but once I had a spanner on it, I could unscrew the mount out of the nut (there isnt room to undu the nut with a spanner). The gearbox mounts where just as easy to do, you have to remove the gearbox to chassis mount (3 long m8 bolts, make sure that you use plenty of penetrating oil on these so that you don't snap them) then it's just a simple task of unbolting the remains of the mounting rubbers from the gearbox.;)

WTF was your wife doing in the Landy??? I daren't let my missus drive mine in case she decides that she likes it and wants to drive that instead of her Pug. Too risky!!!

I don't think she's that interested in driving it, I have just bought her a BMW X5 4.6is, 347bhp, 0-60 in 6 secs!:D and runs on lpg! (with 15mpg I'm really glad it does run lpg!) And if I'm a good boy she sometimes let me drive it!
