Check the small rubber pipes to the turbo boost modulator. Out of the 3 I had one split and one holed.

Nice to know you got them done. Good luck with the brakes. There's always something........

    Oil in ECU plug

A design fault I'm afraid. Injector looms need changing from time to time. The plug to keep an eye on for the earliest signs is the round one at the front right of the cyinder head. As your connector one is that bad, I would check it every week for a couple of months after replacing the loom.

    Egr valve module

Get an egr removal kit instead. £28 from Paddock. Also check the 3 vacuum hoses that go to the turbo boost modulator. They can split or rub on stuff and get holed.

    Supplier of front springs

Thank you Discool. Sierraferry, the medium load Terrafirma are actually a 2" lift according to the sites I have seen them for sale on. They will sit at standard height if you have a winch and winch bumper, which I do not.

    Supplier of front springs

I am struggling to source front springs for my 54 plate TD5 Disco 2. The car is SLS without ACE and has standard 18" rims that it left the factory with. I am after standard height, standard load rated springs and would prefer to avoid genuine Land Rover ones due to cost. Bearmach or...

    Air suspension explosion.

I would say to have a right good read of Battenbergs post entitled "Disco II Air Suspension - the definitive guide" before you start work, as there is some part of the job where I think you have to "fool" the sensors. Also lots of folks asking for (and getting) advice about various problems...

TD5 on off power loss on acceleration

Just did my modulator and found that 2 of the 3 vacuum pipes that go to it were split/holed. Replaced pipes, but bore of new pies are bit bigger than original, so still a bit of a problem there. Will source correct bore pipe and presume problem will entirely disappear then, as it did for about...

    Air suspension explosion.

VERY lucky you were surfing instead of driving when it went. Always replace air-bags in pairs - Paddock will do a set of OEM ones for about £130. Delivery takes a couple of days and they come with new clips for the top ends. Look on this forum for Battenbergs air suspension guide - he gives 2...

    A Bit of a Rattle

Well, it looks like I had 2 problems instead of one and was giving myself a bum steer with the traction control thing. I replaced the turbo boost control module the other night as it was looking in a bit of a sorry state and was cheap to replace. Two screws, one electrical connector and...

    Where to get vacuum pipe

Yesterday evening I replaced the turbo boost modulator on my TD5. Those of you familiar with this job will know that it has 3 small bore rubber vacuum pipes running from it to the waste gate actuator, MAF sensor and lower intercooler pipe. One of the 3 pipes was split and another had...

    A Bit of a Rattle

OUCH! Sounds expensive. Where would the play be that I should check for? Have to admit, the traction control has always seemed a bit on the sensitive side since I bought the car last august.

discovery td5 cuts out after 2 mile

There's a chap who has a site called www.discovery2.com. This is one of the jobs he has done a write-up on with lots of pictures.

    A Bit of a Rattle

Sadly I was just deluding myself back there. Been running it around locally without the turbo shield for a few days just to double check. (I also found a not very captive nut for the engine shroud on the right side, so binned it just to be sure it wasn't that). I still have the rattle and...

    A Bit of a Rattle

Checked prop shaft UJ's just to be sure. All OK and the front one even has a nease gripple, so I will give that a squirt at the weekend. I sort of bent the heat shield a bit and the problem went away for a while, so guess that I have found my rattle. Hooray! Cheers Rigsby. Just like I am fond...

    A Bit of a Rattle

Had a check this morning of manifod studs - all present and correct, and turbo heat shield, where I found a problem. There is a V shaped bracket at the back that is rivetted to the shield, with a single bolt at the bottom of the V that fixes to the turbo body, close to the flange for the down...

    A Bit of a Rattle

Thanks Rigsby. I will check them both tomorrow. It seems like the shield might be the most likely candidate as it is that sort of a noise. From what I've read on here, problems with the exhaust manifold are generally accompanied by some kind of whine, hoot, or whistle. This sound is nothing...

    A Bit of a Rattle

Had this for a few months and thought it was the silicone hoses that needed twisting round a bit. Did that this morning and made no difference. So, here are the symptoms. It usually happens when engine gets warm. I accellerate and get to 2000 to 2500 rpm and this rattling/grinding noise starts...

    TD5 engine oil leaks!

As its a 2004, yours should be a 15P engine if it's the original one.
