DPF - Is it worth it?

Ah! Well that's a good question too. Seat were always very wishywashy on that - to them it was obviously a "filter" problem and though the car was only a few months out of warranty they just ignored us. DPFs do not last forever and they are expensive - up to about £2k to replace!! The...

DPF - Is it worth it?

Thanks Vissie - that covers it - it was the accessibility that was the killer for the ibiza - doesn't sound too bad on the FL2. And, no, never ignore a DPF sensor warning :) Cheers

    Should I bother saving her....

I'd love to do it myself but I've proved I don't have the time :( So it'll need to be a garage or an enthusiast with a penchant for doing restorations. Anyone care to recommend anyone in/near North Devon?

    Should I bother saving her....

Hmm, tempting - not! :) What's it likely to cost to put that lot right? A couple of grand?

    Should I bother saving her....

My X reg D2 (185k miles) is showing her age. This is the less than complete list of problems... Needed some welding on the chassis at the last MOT Coolant leak - regularly leading to 1litre refills and engine overheating! Fuel regulator leak Leak from the seal on the transfer box Gear change...

DPF - Is it worth it?

I've been looking at some 2nd hand f2s as a replacement family car. I like what I see (a lot) but I fancy one of the newer 190bhp ones and I see they come with a DPF. I also run a Seat Ibiza ecomotive and fixing the DPF that went wrong on that was fiendishly expensive - £400 just to clean...

    Tow pole...

Yeah I just saw that on another forum - £270? But I hope never to use it :) I'm now looking for an howto to make one out of scaffold. It strikes me that £50 for a scaffold pole and the 'endy bits' and £200 for a welder would leave me £20 better off _and_ with a welder :) I saw this...

    Tow pole...

A couple of years back I did a bit of non-landy trialling. When I smashed the engine off its mounts I needed to be towed home. I still remember the stain inducing fear of being pulled by a rope at 30mph+ behind a D2. I vowed to get a tow pole if I got back into trialling. So, I'm thinking of...

Are these roof racks any good...

Neat - I'll take a look. Hmmm... whats the load rating on those decorative bars the D2 comes with as standard? Maybe I can secure two lengths of dexion to those and make my own rack!

Are these roof racks any good...

Thanks Trewey - I have a box - I need the bars to use that - I was tempted to a rack for the flexibility (christmas trees, etc) I guess I'll just be going for the bars or I'll take the plunge on that rack. Cheers

Are these roof racks any good...

I plan to take my D2 on holiday soon - this time with 7 people in it (!!) Time for roof storage I think. For a one-off holiday I don't want to spend gazillions so I had a quick look at ebay and found these: eBay - Freelander Discovery Landrover roof tray platform rack carry box luggage...

Rear door trim catches front door...

Its the D2's door cards I've not enjoyed :) Those little plastic bits never go back for me. I just found a 1/2" cranked spanner - fitted a treat. Adjusted the front door and then loosened off back door a bit and thats happier too. I guess I'll just have to accept I'll need to take the door...

Rear door trim catches front door...

Thanks I have no goose necked/cranked spanners - so I moved the rear door back a bit instead. Its not a perfect solution as it does not like closing on the door lock but I cannot see a way of adjusting that - still stops most of the rubbing for now at least! Time to get a set of those...

Rear door trim catches front door...

Hi! My D2's near side rear door has started to catch on the front door. By the looks of the missing paint on the trailing edge of the front door the rear door's plastic trim has been rubbing it for a while But now the plastic trim has started to catch making a nasty noise and the last time...

    Battery advice required

You'll all be glad to know I did not do this. Though, I confess, more because it was raining than anything else:eek: In the end I used a multimeter to check the voltage across the battery was over 14V when the engine/alternator was running - which it was. The new battery is still going well...

    Battery advice required

Well I looked around but could not find any readily available obvious replacement bargains batteries on the web. I chose not to buy the dealership replacement for £164 In the end I took a punt on a Varta Blue Direct 830 cca battery which cost £114 from a local garage! Its not as long (from...

    Battery advice required

My Disco let me down this morning - the battery had no power. truth be known - I let it down by leaving the same battery in it since new (2000 - is this a record?). So I need to get a new battery... I've seen the alphaline one at Performance Batteries | Your Online Store for Car...

    STC50529 OAT Coolant/Anti-freeze...

Cheers - sadly I can't see any leak - I wish I could I'd know what to do. It leaks out over a long period and just seems to disappear :( I still need to buy the coolant - is it best to get this from the dealer?

    STC50529 OAT Coolant/Anti-freeze...

Does this stuff really cost over a tenner a litre? I've got a leak and no time to fix it so I'm going to have to keep topping this up for a while - whats the best place to buy this? Is this one of those 'just buy it from the dealer and be done with it!' items?
