TD5 coolant system bleed screw replacement...

Are you saying a stainless steel screw to replace the bleed screw? Its probably safe enough - but I would be concerned about: The metal thread wearing away the hose's thread as you screw it in The metal expanding differently to the rubber and wearing the hose's thread The more I...

    Linux(Ubuntu) + RAVE iso - YMMV...

I'm presuming that you have Linux, some linux skills and have the "Wine" software installed... I found a rave ISO and tried it on my Linux (Ubuntu 12.04) pc... First I mounted it with the "Archive Mounter" this gave me a new "device" but when I right-clicked on RAVE.exe and chose to open...

    Front ABS sensor bolt/screw

I finally got around to getting and trying the bolt I got from the local 'fasteners' They call it a "6 x 10 Socket Cap Screw" It has a 5mm Allen (internal hex) head (about 5mm long and 9mm in diameter) with 10mm thread length - the thread is 'M6' Looking at the hole, 12mm even up to...

    Driveway protection...

One of the leaks is from the ace block which is pretty much between the front and rear of side wheels so need to move any tray before moving off and replace after parking. I'm surprised no one has suggested simply covering the whole drive with oils to achieve a uniform coverage target than...

    Front ABS sensor bolt/screw

That is not a silly idea at all - just not an option when I started this thread. When I finally get home, I have a hub I can do that on. I wanted to buy the screw (get it delivered) and do the real work when I got home. Its too late now - I have to do the investigative work when I get...

    Front ABS sensor bolt/screw

Sadly no you would need to be very flexible just to look at the head of the 'screw' and require some quite fantastic tools to undo it. Basically, its wheel, caliper, pads, carrier and disc off to see the darned thing Then its having the courage to undo it and measure it - the courage is...

    Front ABS sensor bolt/screw

These replies are all scary  I note a lot of places sell the sensor separately so I can only presume they can be replaced so I'm going to :lalala: And just hope someone can tell me the details of the screw :)

    Front ABS sensor bolt/screw

I recently bought a front hub and ABS sensor from a breaker. Sadly they came separate and I did't get the bolt/screw to hold one to the other :( Please bear with me - I'm doing this research a long way from the hub and I want to get the right part this week so I can put it on this weekend -...

Drive Grip - a uk alternative...

This is not for a screw its for getting the ACE filter out of my d2 This is held in place with a steel allen head bolt which has likely 'rusted' into the aluminium ACE block. If the head 'rounds off' the resolution might be really difficult. So I'm agreeing with urbanpanzer I want it to...

    Which 3 legged puller....

urbanpanzer strongly suggests using a 1-1/4" socket instead of a metric 32mm one _and_ that it be a hex rather than bi-hex I only have bi-hex metric sockets near that size - do you think this is going to be a problem?

Drive Grip - a uk alternative...

Oh ho - more surfing I found this: Non Slip Anti-Cam Out Fluids for screws Any Experience? - The Garage Journal Board From that I found this in the UK; Todays Tools Screwgrab: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools And is this stuff the same as their "valve lapping compound"...

Drive Grip - a uk alternative...

Fair point! Contacted - maybe there's somewhere in the UK selling it - I'll post back if so. In the meantime, is there a UK version?

Drive Grip - a uk alternative...

I want to buy some of this: http://www.discovery2.co.uk/workshop/ace/ace3.jpg Which is a deep link into urbanpanzer's website. But I cannot find any for sale in the UK. I had a brief look at Loctite's site but found nothing. Is this stuff - or an alternative - available in the UK?

Ok - thanks - a copper hammer it is then :)

Do D1 sun roof blinds fit in a D2?

Great news - thanks! I wonder how difficult it would be to have a breakers "forum/FAQ" - such that interchangeable parts could be readily identified between landrover vehicles. There must be a lot of overlap - Perhaps a project for my retirement :-)

Do D1 sun roof blinds fit in a D2?

The title pretty much says it all. I just want to know so the next time I'm down the breaker's yard...

    Which 3 legged puller....

This sounds too easy and has the added benefit of my needing to buy a copper hammer (How big do you reckon?) I was following Urbanpanzer's guide: www.discovery2.co.uk / Front Wheel Hub / Bearing Assy He says that doing it that way removes the need to replace oil seals. You don't...

    Driveway protection...

Neat - I like the idea of the laths underneath - I see how that would be easier to move. 4x2s seems rather industrial - Is this to safeguard against being driven over? Of course this will still require me to get on my hands and knees to align it :(

    Driveway protection...

Its not a room problem, its an access problem - the neighbours don't like me driving over their gardens to park. They don't realise how unreasonable they are!
