Hi. The garage is integrated to the house, and the new lean-to roof, which is one structure, covers the house part of the extension, and the garage. This roof is an extension of the existing roof for ease and aesthetics, so the water has no choice but to end up at the boundary.
I could of...
Hi chaps.
We've taken loads of pictures, so will definitely get some up with a bit of a story behind each for those interested, or looking to do something similar. ..
We went with a local guy who came closely recommended. He and his team had recently built a Howdens and Premier Inn...
I wouldn't blame someone putting the smiley 'this thread is useless without pics up soon', but I don't care - I'm so chuffed at the rate the brickies are chucking the walls up - and the quality of their work!!!
That is all. :D
Tom
You'd be gutted!!
I can cheat a little with the height as the land on my neighbours side of the boundary is raised some 200-300mm so if I built it 2600mm as measured from in fronf of the garage door, it would still not be 2500mm at the boundary on their side. But I don't want to regret...
We have, but lowering it any more wasn't really feasible due to then needing a split level dpc with the house, and the issue with next door having a raised bed against the wall etc.
We're also out of the ground, so no turning back now.
It has been all about compromises.
I've made my...
Just briefly as on my phone. ..
We only have 2.5m to play with and as we're tight to boundary have no room for gutter so need to factor in a parapet wall and box gutter, which will add approx 200mm to height at the eaves.
So 2100mm lintel + 200mm lintel itself leaves only 100mm for parapet...
Thanks for all your replies - I didn't expect so many so quick!
The garage will be taller inside due to the lean-to roof, but not by much. I hadn't thought about jacking it up - not that I can go higher anyway.
It's an awkward one with the boundary being raised, and the uncertainty about...
Hi guys,
I'm building an extension myself, but have brickies in tomorrow morning to chuck the walls up and I really need to determine the lowest I can set the garage lintel (will be a roller door now) so and still get my fender in.
Problem I have is that due to boundary/parapet wall and...
Yes and no - it isn't often (I doubt) you rev the nuts of yours for a sustained period of time while looking in the mirror to see how much crap comes out the back.
That said, I doubt it was your problem, but worth a check..?
Tom
EDIT: forgot about crap in the sump!
Just occasionally a really throbbing exhaust will set my alarm off on the golf, but this is a once in a full moon occurrence, and although the car might not have woken you, your alarm could of..?
7 months isn't very long to be fair.
Tom
I agree, and say lift.
I'm guessing the back is fitted with a locker first as a good percentage of the time when traction is lost is during a climb, and the weight, assuming you're in a forward gear, is on the rear...?

No EGR or CAT (If i recall correctly) on a 200tdi, whereas there is on the 300.
I look at my 200 and think 'I'm glad I have a 200 as it is more simple, more reliable and easier to fix than the newer engines', but as I plan to use it mostly on the road I also find myself thinking sometimes I...
Bigger tyres effectively just increase your gearing, the torque at say, 30 or 40 mph remains exactly the same, you will perhaps just have to use a lower gear.
I could imagine it being an issue with a car with a long set of gears, but I'm sure most of us who use a landy on the black stuff wish...
The chap I bought my tdi had his new shiny TD5 90 on the ramp with a similar problem. He had the fuel tank out and laptop connect but kept turning up ends...
Just keep your mind open and fingers crossed :(
