What have you done to your tratter today?

Replaced the ed90 in the swivels with oneshot and removed the remains a very rotten bump stop ready for the arrival of a new pair. Unfortunately in the process of striking two more things off the to do list I found the webbing supports under the rear spring mounts were completely shot... one...

Please help fender on ramp and time running out. quick swivel q

All sorted. I gave looking for the filler bung and went for broke on the level bung - which very reluctantly turned with some plumber locking pliers. My swivels are definitely not like those you find if you watch the first vid you see but the grease is in and nothing sheared! Tom

Please help fender on ramp and time running out. quick swivel q

On the mobby and bugger all signal - please help - I can't find the filler bung on my swivel and I've already (like a right ####!) drained it! Is the filler bung caliper side or is it meant to be towards the front? It doesn't help I'm not familiar with fenders yet and it is covered in...

Rear bump stop for defender 90

I'm after a good/average condition rear bump stop to replace a missing one and as long as it isn't too rusty it'll be fine. WHYG? Tom

    2.5 TD vs 300tdi

It is exactly that which to me sounds identical. Thank you Tom

    2.5 TD vs 300tdi

Can I jump is and ask how similar they (200tdi and td) sound on tickover? I have driven a td many times, but the 200tdi I bought (and am slowly doing up) sounds remarkably similar - albeit I have only moved it around the yard! I know they are based on the same block, but...? Thanks Tom

    Found this in the bellgousing

I'm no expert, but as it is quite a specialist stud (ie it is not common 13mm nut, of which garages have lying about in magnetic trays etc) I would of thought it was still meant to be holding two items together. What size is the dia? Someone that knows them better could confirm if these...

    2nd hand batteries

Hi folkes, I'd like to get a couple of batteries - one for my landy (which is still in resto mode) and one for a small diesel tractor as a thanks to the in-laws, neither have to be anything special, but I wondering if it is worth it? Do any of you use an online second hand retailers, or...

    Swing out spare wheel carrier

You could over come this problem with a damper mounted under the rear floor that poked out from under the cross member. EDITED: You'd just need a bracket on the bottom of the carrier that poked out enough, so it cleared the cross member and provided you a mounting point for the damper. Tom

    Swing out spare wheel carrier

We went to Kenya on our honeymoon and during safari we got a puncture, and I helped change the wheel with our driver and boy it was heavier than I expected!! It took quite a heave to put the punctured one back on the swing away - but I bet those rims and tyres are pretty heavy duty as the...

    Suspension raise?

If you don't plan on fitting bigger wheels keep it at the original height as save money and, more importantly, grief from her in doors!! Tom

How to install a wading kit?

While there is definitely need for caution, just because oil can get out doesn't mean water can get in - not at least when the engine is running, otherwise water would go up your exhaust faster than we could laugh at a pink gaylander! :D Diff - yup - agreed 100% Tom

How to install a wading kit?

I wondered about that - particularly the dipstick seal, but: Diesels breathe so heavily (compared to their petrol counter parts) that I wonder how much head of water would be needed to over come the positive pressure inside the oil galleries? For example, if you take the oil cap off my tdi...

How to install a wading kit?

Everything has to be sealed up. Getting a bit of bow wave over your bonnet occasionally type of wading probably wouldn't cause any problems, but if you get caught out or miss-judge the depth and the standing height of the water means everything under your bonnet is submersed you don't want...

How to install a wading kit?

Essentially, yes - it is simply, but 20 minutes worth of reading will go a long way and there are guides on here somewhere.... Use plenty of silicon on your snorkel pipes, and seal every joint back to the inlet. Also, if you've a 200tdi (and 300 i think?) don't forget the fart valve (rubber...

    Discs for offrading

Vented rotors help dissipate heat and prevent brake fade (as well as better pads), but they don't increase braking power, so they wouldn't be worth it in my humble opinion... Tom

Why did this tratter stop in the flood?

After sealing my own snorkel quite recently I'd be pretty confident nothing that splashed up would of been ingested - unless he had pipe work off or it is missing bits for some reason - he has got the grille missing on the wing - so maybe he's been having a fiddle! Tom

Why did this tratter stop in the flood?

They were driving through like tools - no doubt about that, but I'm still confused as to what happened to the pink one? Tom

Why did this tratter stop in the flood?

As per the title, why do you think the pink tratter died - surely not enough water could of entered the engine through either the wing vent or unsealed piping? Could have been a petrol - black smoke on entry to the flood would suggest not..? @6 min 43 sec >> Brockenhurst floods - YouTube...
