    Offroad Trailer custom Build

There isn`t a lot to go wrong - see if you can get a spare tyre if it didn`t come with one ( it should undersling at the rear) and assuming you made sure it wasn`t corroded where it might matter before you bought it, make sure its rust proofed as part of the conversion. Keep the handbrake off...

    freelander spare wheel carrier

Assuming you have a towbar you might be better with a tow bar mounted carrier - should carry more weight and be safer ?

    which one is best

The Shogun/Pajero is not a bad car if you just want a reasonably reliable generic 4 wheel drive but parts aren`t cheap. I`ve had Japanese 4x4`s and they are okay but I`ve never cared about them as much as I care for my LandRovers, and they never inspired as much confidence in tricky terrain...

    Key broken in Barrel

Are you sure the remains of the key blade cannot be extracted ? A decent mobile locksmith might be worth a try, and for the time spent on a phone call might save a more complicated solution.

Best way to remove rusted bolts ?

I use penetrating oil and a metre long scaffold pole offcut over the heel of the spanner or socket if there`s enough room. The "extension" also works well on over-tightened wheel nuts when you get a flat tyre , particularly if you can stand on it.

    td5 MOT emissions failure...

I`f get the temp gauge looked at as well - if your car is running that under temp when it should be at normal operating temp there is an underlying issue, might be simple, might not, but best to find out

Thinking of swapping my series 3 for a range rover classic.

The LSE is a 4.2 V8 with eight inches extra rear legroom, £39,995 new, only 2000 made, DVLA showed only 550 on the road as at December 2010 and I think that overstates it since many were exported. The engine was developed by Jon Eales to give 200 bhp. I`ve had both standard Classics and an LSE...

load cover needed for jdm 300 with rear air con ?

Try Rimmer Brothers - from memory they brought in quite a few of the Japanese reimports so should be able to point you in the right direction even if they can`t supply

    Off road custom Trailer Build

I`ve seen the parallel thread as well. Its a big ask for that budget. I wonder if you can make it simpler ? I agree that landy size wheels and tyres are a good idea, but I also wonder if you would not be better suspending the bikes from a custom made hanger ( sort of like a scull or canoe...

    Coil springs ?????????????

Colin, where are you based, since it might make sense for you to go and look at either other range rovers with different suspension set-ups or visit a good independent and get them to talk you through the alternatives (one of which might be converting back to air for example, depending on what...

    Defender 200/300 conversion - where?

I`m also in Herts. I would try, in no particular order : Harris Mayes in Rickmansworth - 01923 711800 - look after my TD5 110 and used to look after my LSE as well till I sold it, very knowledgeable and enthusiastic and will lend you a courtesy car. Peter Harris Mayes is the guy to speak to...

    classic seat prob,s

Could be switches, relay, fuse, flexidrives - I`d start with the easiest and eliminate the possibilities one by one. I`ve never heard of Peckspeed at all, it might just be a random sticker . A good independent should help you identify where if anywhere the engine has been modified - good to...

    Land Rover 101

In no particular order: Keep an eye on ebay Then the ex MOD disposal contractors plus usual suspects - your ideal would I guess be a transfer box that is new old stock from MOD storage Leavesleys Withams Blanchards Then a reasonable independent supplier like Craddocks Then Milweb.net -...

    Classic heater problem

Sounds like the heater matrix, a pattern part is about £70 but its a bitch to fit since you have to strip part of the dash. You don`t necessarily smell coolant when the matrix goes, one variable being how much collant it had in it in the first place. I`d lift all the carpets in the front and...

    Buying a late RRC V8 with EAS...questions?

I agree with James, for expedition use I`d stick with coils. I converted my LSE to coils when two of the airbags went, it was undoubtedly less comfortable but my reasoning was that it would be stupid to replace just two airbags since the others were the same age ( new in 1993) and already...

Anyone in NW London with a faultmate?

Don`t know where you are in NW London but Harris Mayes are a good independent in SW Herts (J17/18 M25 Rickmansworth) - 01923 711800 - if that helps. Really good with my Defender TD5 and Range Rover LSE, no complaints.

    minstry of defence 90 defender

MOD vehicles always used to be cast (sold) on the basis of their whole life cost - they have a budget and an expected service life and are cast when either the budget is exhausted or they reach the end of their service life , whichever is sooner. That is why some MOD vehicles are cast having had...

    Freelander Commercial - V5 says 5 seats!

Have you tried Land Rover to see if they have any info - I thought all the commercials were Special Vehicle builds, so there should be much lower volume separate records. Nicola from Land Rover PR joined the forum a few weeks ago and offered to help with questions, so it might be worth trying...
