    TD4 Engine warning light

Sounds like possible crank case breather filter. Ask garage if they changed this during service. Cheap and easy to do.

    Disco td5 weird ACE issue.

Replacement ECU fitted today and no difference. Bugger! Diagnostics next to check system pressure. I'm not worried about accelerometers too much as the system is even different with vehicle at standstill and idle running, no high pressure " noise" more like clicking. Anyone ever heard of a...

    Disco td5 weird ACE issue.

Sounds like a good way to go. The full set of pipes were replaced about 5 years ago and the pump soon after but no recent maintenance at all. System had been working fine up until this hiccup. It makes sense that ecu could be at fault. I suppose if I get it on diagnostics then I should know...

    Disco td5 weird ACE issue.

Bit of investigation tonight and not any further on. Warning light comes on with ignition. Valve block filter checked and found clean. Both Arbs and linkages all good and tight. Auxiliary belt removed and pump checked found free and smooth to turn. I've left visc fan etc off so I can run engine...

    Disco td5 weird ACE issue.

I haven't checked drop links yet, need to have a good look as it was late when I got back. I'm thinking pump or valve block though as I can no longer hear the faint drone of the high pressure oil when engine is running. I will check warning lights today too. Pump was replaced with new 5 years...

    Droning/scraping noise

Could be vcu support bearings. I had to replace my genuine lr ones after a year. They are made in India now since the tata deal and don't appear to be good quality.

Disco 2 Three Amigos Issues - thoughts needed.

Itsalready been said a couple of times and its correct !! You need to get off the drive and get the speed up. I had faults and 3 amigoes cleared on tuesday. The abs light didnt go off until we were up over 10mph. If there are no fault codes on diagnostic then you can be fairly sure the faults...

Time to flog the old girls!

Im in Troon, Ayrshire. Disco does have some common faults which i didnt yet manage to fix. Air con loses charge, ( not such a big issue around here). Some corrosion along top of windscreen which can be easily rectified and which i may get done if i think its putting buyers off, otherwise...

    Freelander 1 Low brake pedal

Going by your symptoms, most likely your system needs bled. Even if front pads/discs are worn or your rear shoes ate worn, they should take up themselves unless the self adjusters on the rear brakes aren't functioning properly. Dont trust cheap bleed kits as the bleed nipples have a tendency to...

Time to flog the old girls!

Sad days coming up soon, im going to be putting my 2001 disco td5 (owned for 8 years) and my 2003 freelander td4 ( owned for over 6 years) up for sale. Part of the reason ive kept these cars for so long is because of the help and advice from this forum so before they go up for sale locally...

    propshaft support bearings

As above, check the propshaft couplings each end and condition of the unions. Rear diff mounts could also be the problem.

    freelander 1 rumbling and vibrating

If your brakes have been worked on recently have them checked again by someone else. I recently had a similar problem to yours caused by a dirty caliper piston. I fitted new discs and pads and then caliper was becoming stuck causing respective side to stick on. As speed increased the heat was...

    Chassis rust

The chassis is goin to be the death of mine soon im afraid. Second part welded for MOT last week and a new body support fabricated and fitted. Thats despite annual external coat of spray dinitrol and I did as much of the inside of the chassis as I could 4 years ago. I dare say if it wasnt done...

Trying to bleed brakes but no fluid is being shifted

I just replaced the modulator on my td5 last week and experienced a similar thing at first but the fluid did start moving after a while. The main point to remember is to go really slowly on the downward stroke as its harder to displace such a high volume of air from the system. Having the bleed...
