Combo of drawing amps and old connectors quite possibly. With heater & lights all on, my volts on the gauge would drop below the line (and my little LED one would show <12), but the actual battery voltage was still 13.5 ish. Have replaced a couple of earth wires and is quite a bit better now.

Always new. Very likely the old ones cylinder has some corrosion in that’ll knacker the new seals. That said, if you’re trying to save every last penny, it’s not hard to rebuild them, as long as you take the time to check the cylinder condition

I found this to my own cost, too. Broke windscreen. Bought a new one and aftermarket seal - broke that windscreen. Bought another one - this time with the proper seal. Still tricky, but doable. I did it myself using, what I assume is the "normal" string method.

In the end, the only way I could get the viscous coupling off mine was a new water pump! Couldn’t find any way to hold it enough to get enough torque to budge it. I am sure I could have got there in the end, but found enough okay in the WP bearings that I decided to replace it anyway

This is correct. It was a 4-speed main box with (optional) fairey overdrive that the synchromeshes always wore on and a vacuum operated centre diff lock.

Seems to have come out OK. DXF file (in the zip) attached for anyone that finds it useful. Only bit you should eyeball yourself is the centre of the recess - it's "as measured" in the dxf, but I actually eyeballed it and offset it by another 1mm to get a better fit when I trial fitted it all.

Just to close this off. Never heard back from the police or any of the forums I posted a “found” notice on. But I returned a couple of weeks later and it had gone. Hopefully recovered by the police or the owner, but given it's hidden location, feels more likely the scrotes had come back for it.

Trouble is all the ones I can find are still attached to the rest of the body. It's fine, I'll have a look in the garage later today and I'm sure I can make something. Hopefully be able to clean this one up and weld a new plate on to it, though not the end of the world if I have to make one...
