    Replacing brake pipes

It is worth getting one of the nicer tools too, they make forming a nice, well sealing, end, much easier.

    BF Goodrich 265 75 16

Asda, amongst many others, are not showing any stock. Paddocks etc. Yup, but they’re supply only, by the time I’ve added fitting starts to get quite pricey. Anyway, have found availability of them from ATS Euromaster for a decent enough all in price.

    Repainting questions

But the reason why many of us like defenders is they're just a big box of meccano. Everything is fairly straightforward to repair or replace.

    BF Goodrich 265 75 16

Does anyone have any insight into the availability of BF Goodrich 265 75 16 tyres - looks like there's almost none available any more?

    Repainting questions

I agree with this. I have just driveway resprayed mine, and I wouldn't do it for 3K for someone, let alone a "proper job". I did it in white to hide all my sins and errors, so it looks smart enough, but nowhere near, absolutely miles away, from a professional job.

    1985 landrover 90 factory colours.

Don't know, I would have assumed any of the normal colours. Mine is a 1989 V8 and was Arles/Windjammer blue.

Led bulbs for standard td5 headlights

Yes. I agonised over it, but very happy with the result. I could have probably kept the kwality and gone with lens type ones for 100 less (e.g. wipac), but they’re ugly even in defender terms

    1985 landrover 90 factory colours.

I believe that’s the later colour blue and wasn't around in '85. It's also the same colouer as "arles blue" I think.

Led bulbs for standard td5 headlights

I have read that many of the cheap ones are terrible. It was one reason why I went with the trucklites: good pattern, RHD, fairly original looking (ie not the lens type)

    Possibly shire blue

    NAKATANENGA

Zinc Chromate paste, sold as Duralac, is the proper stuff, but if I’m honest I rarely bother except on boats.

Led bulbs for standard td5 headlights

Yeah, I have a pair of the trucklite units in mine and they are excellent. Suddenly I can see at night

Led bulbs for standard td5 headlights

This isn't quite correct, although I acknowledge the OP said headlight bulbs in the original TD5 units, which IS illegal, but also not quite what you refer to either. MOT manual says: and So, as long as you replace the full unit, not just the bulb, and then don't have self levelling fitted...

Galvanised Series Style Front Door Conversion Kit

I installed mine (series 3 style doors) without those brackets. It's a bit of a fiddle and easiest done with the door removed and laid flat, but is OK. Overall fit is OK, but not amazing. I found the door tops come up sticking our further backwards, maybe 2mm than the OE, which makes the...

Let there be light …QT pod dilema

That’s not how resistors work. It’s is a 20W resistor which describes how much power it can handle. However, V=IR and P=IV, so P=v^2/R which works out as 7.2 watts. Why did I fit LED repeaters? Because my old ones were shot and I wanted to.

    Transfer box failure

Agree with the above. I did blow a transfer box once - and you know about it! If it's just jumping out of gear, it can easily just be the selector mechanism, shown above. I had that on mine once - it wouldn't stay in high im my case. A bolt on the selector mechanism had come loose. 10 minutes...

Let there be light …QT pod dilema

I have done all this to mine recently. I have the trucklite headlight and they look decent and pretty close to the old ones. Not cheap though, but I like them. And the difference in what you can see fantastic, but with a nice clear pattern and illumination cut off. My MOT tweaked the adjustment...

Let there be light …QT pod dilema

That’s one angle. The other angle is that your wiring loom struggles to service the loads it needs anyway because they’re not great when new, let alone after 30 or more years of moisture and corrosion in both the loom and all the bulb fittings. So it really is a pros and cons each way answer...

    Heated Front Screen

Just in case useful for anyone else, in addition to the fuse spec, we can also see from the diagram that it's supplied by a 2.5mm sq wire
