Jack the back axel up and spin the wheels backwards and it will give you an idea. It should have the same resistance spinning forward and back.

I had this on an old Disco I had and it turned out my fuel solinoide had a bad connection. Clipped the old spade off cleaned the pin, New spade terminal and all good

Also stick a tidy sized magnet on the drain plug to pull out any nasty bits before you change the oil

I'm not sure you could be right. I'm not sure with the later edc but could your ecu be preventing a constant live to the fuel solinoid? If not it could it be something do do with the electronic control wire to the injector? Try a constant live to the fuel solinoid from the battery an extra earth...

Have you had a look at the starter inhibitor on the gear box?

Sounds to me like you snapped a few fingers when you first tried to move it

If you don't have an angle grinder tool station sell them for £20 and ask for a pack of 1mm cutting disks and some safety glasses ( I've almost lost an eye to a grinder and a friend has) so I would say glasses are the most important part

Start looking at the wiring next to where you have been grinding/welding for any damage it doesn't take much to blow a fuse

Have you changed or moved anything on the dash or in the engine bay recently? Or been through deep mud?

Looking at the photo the rot runs right up the seam to the bump stop.

Wow, my prices just went up! If they are just sticking a patch over that for that money. I would have charged £30 as that it no way more than an hour. If they cut out and repair flush to surrounding metal then about 2 hrs is fair
