I'm no expert... But if you're running it with the diff lock on and the prop shaft off then the uj (or whatever it's called) will still be taking 50% of the power but just spinning in the air... So I wouldn't think it makes it any more economical. But if there's some magic thingy I don't know...

Just went and viewed this: Any thoughts? I know a lot of people don't like the new shape defenders for being Transit vans, but I like Transit vans too! She's a 2007 90 County with roughly 39k on the clock... Drove perfect, no worrying noises, full service history, and some nice off road toys...

I'd rather replace a piece of the steering than the differential should something go wrong, so a diff guard would be my priority
